Just put a cd in and it gives you the option to record it in the virtual cd section. Unfortunately it only records at real time speed and doesn't have a CDDB database to recognize the music. Not very useful compared to my previous hard drive based nav, which burned the whole cd in a few minutes and recognized the album automatically, and stored something like 50 CDs.

With this unit the iPod adapter and satellite radio are the best ways to get music into the system with viewable song info.

Specifically, song tiles are Not shown for:

    USB
    Bluetooth streaming
    Cd
    Virtual cd
    Aux in
    Radio (no RDS)

    Song titles are shown for:

    Satellite radio
    iPod

Both of those are only available with the optional IPS01 adapter (~$43). All song names, artist names, and album names only show the first 13 letters.

We tried it with a Droid and it seems fine so maybe it's an iPhone issue? If it changes, I'll report back here too.

I tried it with a droid, didn't work. It appears that the unit is not sending out any Bluetooth identification info.

Where is your GPS antenna mounted? We went with Nikos's concept which is directly over the defroster vent area closest to the windshield.

I don't think the nav antenna has anything to do with the Bluetooth, but I mounted mine directly to the top of the headunit. I'll try removing it from the headunit to see if that helps. My Nav reception is good.

My Sirius antenna is on top of the dash, centered near the windshield.

If moving the GPS antenna away from the unit itself doesn't work, there is one last drastic measure you could try...do a "hard factory reset" by pressing in with a paper clip end (or use the provided stylus) the small reset hole under the right control knob. Yes, you will lose all your saved addresses, but if Bluetooth starts to work again, maybe the antenna location is key to that part of the system.

The factory tech told me it's very important that the mag-grab base of the GPS antenna sits on the provided 3 inch x 3 inch black metal square that is pr0vided. They also provide a small maroon "sticky tab" so the antenna doesn't shift around on the metal square. Unfortunately, none of this is mentioned in the installation instructions. Good luck and let us know if that remedies the Bluetooth. Thanks again for your guidance.

    Hi Matt_A,
I don't know if other GPS's will work with Google, I do know that Garmin does, if you have another make it would be best to ask the mfr. about it.

You need to bring up Google maps
    Choose " Get directions"
Then enter in the "A" and "B" lines to get your route, once you have that you can change the route if need be to take a road YOU want to use and not one that Google is choosing.
If you like the route fine ....
There are 2 options once you have the route PRINT or LINK ( an icon of a chain link is there )
    Click the LINK
In the box that pops up choose SEND
    Then choose send to GPS
    Select your brand of GPS
If it's a Garmin you must d/l a small program that allows Google to send the info to your Garmin
You will need to have the Garmin plugged into a USB port on your computer as well.
Once all that is done and the page 'sees' your GPS the d/l will take place and it will appear in your FAVORITES menu in the Garmin.
To plot a return trip so that you use the same route you took to your destination, simply change the "A" and "B" parameters so that you are LEAVING your original destination and going back to where you started from.

IE" "A" GO TO Atlantic City, NJ. ..... from "B" Harrisburg, Pa. ............ send to Garmin using LINK
For the return trip "A" Becomes Atlantic City and "B" is now Harrisburg

Whatever you do DO NOT change the type of route in the Garmin from SHORTEST to FASTEST it will NOT use the route you d/l'd if you do that!!! Trust me I know.

I suggest that you input a route as described and then look at it in the Garmin to see that it IS using the one you want to use. If not you can then change from Shorter to Faster and see if it then uses the one you want. Best to test it in your hands before going out on the road and getting hosed because you didn't check!

So far this only works with Garmin, Navigon and Insignia GPS units!

    Hope that helps you!

I tried moving the nav antenna and doing a hard reset of the system. Still doesn't work.

The Myron and Davis units are still available. I purchased one yesterday after making an offer for $290. Interestingly, they are still listed on Amazon's website for $1417. As far as I can tell its the same unit.

Sorry to hear that evpv...I guess your alternative is to try to get another one. How long have you had this unit? I think the seller has a 14 day return no questions asked policy. If not the seller, maybe Myron & Davis can help?
    UPDATE:
It's Tuesday morning and unfortunately after talking to their tech support, there are some adjustments that cannot be made to this NAV unit:

    1) There is no way to bring up the brightness on the backlit buttons to match your dash if you prefer brighter settings. The NAV buttons will always be dim.
    2) There is an irksome "I agree" screen that comes up every time the unit is powered - you'd think you'd only have to "agree" once so you need to go thru that process perpetually.
    3) There are no options to change the initial jpeg screen that says "multimedia" or "Myron Davis"...it would be nice if we could just have a Toyota emblem instead.
    4) As you play DVDs, most will have a skinny "letter box" look that leaves wide margins at the top and bottom. There are no format settings that would allow you to "stretch" the letterbox as to fill the screen.

I did not ask about evpv's Bluetooth issue as I'm not having that problem yet.

I believe all nav systems require the "I Agree" screen each time you use it. My previous vehicle with factory nav had it.

My old nav had the ability to stretch the DVD to fit the window but in actual application it wasn't very good.

Good luck with M&D - hopefully you can get a different unit with BT that works. I'm going to check into the SD card to see if there's anything in there that can be modified. Since the old OEM unit is sitting next to me on the floor, maybe it's possible to use the LEDs from it in the new NAV unit. Many here have done change-outs on their dash with good results.

I poked around on the Nav SD card, not much there other than proprietary files for the Navigation section only.

The LEDs are most likely set to match the "factory look" from the manufacturer. From their instructions it looks like some of their generic headunits offer the ability to change the color and brightness. It would be better if the brightness adjusted with the factory controls but I'm OK with the dim green look.

I only get that "I agree" when I start the navi. Do not get it when unit stays up though. I never restrated the unit when navi is on though.

Yep - just got done looking thru the SD card and found the same files you did - nothing that looks like it could be set from a PC. I just wonder if in the AUX screen there is some other 4 digit code besides 7253 that would get you into some more advanced settings. Maybe I'll do a search on hacking a M&D and see if someone has successfully done it.
    UPDATE:
I've been reading all the manuals, the box itself and the M&D website. Sadly, I cannot find even a mention of any warranty for this NAV unit. I guess we are on our own if there's trouble.

How did you get the Toyota hybrid icon on the start-up screen?

I just received this unit today. It looks nice and I hope I don't run into any of the problems that other people are experiencing. I'm going to install this on Friday and do some per-wiring for the back up cam since my camera won't get to me until next week. Can any one give me some tips on installing this and also what "not to do" things that people have experienced. I also want to put the iPod harness thing but I don't have that yet. I guess I'll has to take the unit out again to install the iPod harness. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!
