This is somewhat related to an earlier thread, Entune automatically starts playing music from my phone every time I get in the car, because I was trying to duplicate the issue of Entune and Bluetooth music playing at random times.

I made a video on my cell phone while backing up from my garage in my 2013 Prius v. The screen says "Audio off" before I put it into reverse. After a few seconds, while I am still backing up, Entune blacks out the screen with Bluetooth audio source and starts playing some podcast I have on my phone. The same phone that I was using to record the video with, so I did not hit play or anything one the phone itself.

You can still hear the backup beep, even though the backup camera is no longer on the screen (and Entune still doesn't actually play anything).

Link to the video (sorry about the shaky-cam effect, it's hard to hold a phone steady while backing up in a driveway):

Good thing you still have a rear view mirror! Toyota needs to address this!

    Soylent,
I had this exact same phenomenon happen to my wife and I! She was practicing parallel parking in our 2012 Prius v (package 3) a couple months ago. I had the bluetooth active (for incoming phone calls on my iPhone 5 - iOS 6.1.4) but no music active on my iPhone (The audio system had been turned off with the source set to radio before that).

My wife got frustrated because whenever she reversed and attempted to use the prius reverse cam, the bluetooth would attempt a connect to begin playing music on the audio system and disrupt the view from the cam. I finally turned the bluetooth off on the phone and the vehicle...

I love the thought of a hands-free system for phone calls. No matter how much Toyota says the bluetooth music reconnect is a feature, it's really not safe in its current implementation. I've tried many suggestions provided on this forum to remedy this issue, but like many others, I have these problems:

    1. My bluetooth between my iPhone and the vehicle will connect, but they are extremely slow to occur. I have many short drives around the city which usually amount to 5-10 minutes of driving. The bluetooth usually connects just as I'm turning off the car to get out. I compare this to bluetooth speakers at home where the connection to my phone is instantaneous (I don't even think about it... It just works).

    2. As much as I like bluetooth for the hands-free phone, the option in the system preferences to only connect for phone (versus music and internet) simply does not work consistently. Nor does selecting something other than "bluetooth" from the audio source menu.

I love this vehicle, but I feel like I've wasted money on the entune headset aspect of it (I have many other complaints about this system but this is the major one). If I could replace this head unit with something better, I would. Otherwise, I'll probably invest in a cradle for the phone and operate everything directly from the iPhone (I just wish I could have saved the few hundred dollars for this system and put it toward something that is EASY to use).

I've heard that you can provide feedback to Toyota. How do you do this? Now that I know someone else has observed this safety issue, I feel compelled to complain to Toyota about this "feature"...

    Thanks for posting this...
    S.

I believe there is a way to send feedback to Toyota, but I don't remember how. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to submit this.

Even if this isn't considered a safety concern, it's very high on the annoyance scale. Obviously a bug or design flaw with Entune, and Toyota needs to address it.
