I absolutlely understand that not all bodies will fit all seats but I have owned several cars and have never thought twice about the seats so I did not pay extra attention to the comfort of the Prius v seats. Did not even research the comfort of the seats as all other cars were at least OK, and unremarkable. I am posting this in hopes of keeping another person from putting good hard earned money on something only to be disappointed and to be sure and test drive for an extended LONG drive and be sure it fits YOUR body. If this saves just one person the aggrevation of buying something that causes body pain then it was worth my time.

70 6" 200lbs. Regularly take Prius v in preference to Avalon with its adjustable seats for 300 mile trip with one driver. I don't adjust seats. Wife has no complaints.

You want uncomfortable, fly United 777 coach.

I guess every body has a slightly different shape and sensitivity.

Jimbo and the other guy .... I know I'm in the Prius v forum.

Note to self - never buy another car that does not have good fully adjustable power seat with lumbar and leather or leather like upholstery.

Currently shopping for seat cushions. wooohoooo

My UK Prius+ has leather seats and compared to the Gen 3 alcantara seats they are luxurious, they are softer and have more height adjustment. I'm 60, 6' and 240lbs and have no problem. I agree with the OP's comment about the concave backs of car seats these days, but it seems to be the same with all makes and at least the Priuses have the adjustable lumbar support. I think the concavity of the seats is to do with Mr Average being only 5'7" tall in Japan, compared to 5'10" in the UK and US, the top of the seat starts to shape forward too early (by 3").
I say bring back the old style seats that sloped back all the way to the top and add a forward adjustable headrest to comply with modern whiplash restraint legislation.

For those that already purchased the car and find the seats intolerable I suggest you look to the after market to possibly resolve the issues at hand. The Back Store is a good start.

First off, I'll bet the Prius v and Prius have the same seat mfr. and design and ya'll know how I like to participate ....

I know the root cause of my seat problems in my 2011, notice I said 'my'....

I'm tall 6'2", must height adjust far down, sitting on thick cushions completely does not work.

For me, there is just, flat out too much tilt in the seat bottom, the pressure on my thighs is too much, yet I'm not going to scoot forward to go back to ridiculous small legroom.

Car's a year and half old, likely the foam and spring foundation underneath have broken in. My butt sinks down a bit further in seat. The front portion of cushion is on a metal pan, not spring, and it's very firm, no give. Coupled with too much tilt, it's a bad position , and there's nothing I can to do eliminate the root cause **

** One simple touch of front of power seat button would lower front of seat cushion: problem solved IF you have the power seat. If not, out of luck.

To fudge the situation, just bought a Bamboo seat cushion with lumbar pad. Doesn't elimiate root cause, but lumbar pad helps out, pushes me a tad forward on seat cushions and reduces pressure on thighs. cushion only $20 and bamboo is very thin which good for tall people.

:)JMD - A lot of truth in what you posted. Now, about those seats. I couldn't ask (nice person) for a better seat. My Plug In Advance has the driver's eight way power seat with lumbar support. Probably the best car seat and positioning options I've had. Just another nice extra with the advance model that most say is over priced for the additional options. My wife has a 2006 Mercedes SLK. The seats are thinly padded with minimal manual adjustments. They're terrible and about the most uncomfortable seat I've encountered. I had a Mercedes SLK 55 ///AMG with all options. The seats were better padded than hers, plus the electric adjustments made all the difference in the world. I'm almost 63. Doesn't take older age to realize bad seating.

i'm 5'10 170lbs, 28 years old. my v seats are fine, on a short test drive i prefer them much over base model liftback seats.
Try a slight adjustment to the seat back angle, maybe recline a little more. I felt somewhat uncomfortable for the first few 1000km with my v with softex seats and the extra padding sticking into my upper back/shoulders was rather bothersome. Perhaps they are broken in now after 45,000km or i've stumbled upon a good seat angle, height setting or my body has just adapted? but the past month or so they feel great, i hardly even use much lumbar support anymore. Have done a couple of 1500+km road trips in the past month and felt fine.
I do have my seat height set to the very bottom setting as its the only setting where the homelink mirror doesn't obscure my forward view too badly.

I am getting close to 60, 5 ten and 200 lbs.
We sat in the Prius liftback, the v with cloth seats and the v with softex seats. There was a difference, the v with softex seats felt much better on both our bodies. We bought the v touring (canada) and have driven 12 hours at a time with no problems. In fact I have slept in the pass. seat and my legs did not go numb.
For us the seats are comfy.

Sounds like seat comfort could very well differ from cloth to softex in the same car. I got the luxury package myself primarily just so i could get the softex seats, in fact i never have even sat in the cloth seats in the v but i just decided i wanted leather seats(even if its not real leather) this time around.
My other choice was the liftback fully loaded tech package with the leather 8 way power seats but it cost alot more than the v luxury package. If i could've got the liftback with leather power seats for a decent price(as in, why did they have to put the power seat option on the most expensive trim? :( ) i would've went that route, as it is i am pleased with my v, though sometimes wondering in the back of my mind, what kind of mpg would i be getting right now if i was driving a liftback, and, how much more sore would my back and butt be if i was driving a base model liftback. :D

The lumbar support is a little lower than I would like but I find the seats comfortable enough.

I'm starting to get used to the seats after 6 months now.
