Heavy loads in rear

in case you find your Prius C carrying heavy passengers or loaded cargo areas and your little Prius has a cecided rearward rake you can consider replacing the OEM shocks with Monroe MA809 air lifts. Its a direct replacement and your biggest care needs to the routing of the air line.
It works well; at 30 psi 2x240 lb rear passengers and 150 lb of luggage was leveled nicely. Course acceleration was decidely reduced and mpg dropped 5-6 mpg on pretty level ground but then we made it in semi=comfort where we had little choice. Except for the tight rear fit ewe could have easily went cross country. (those 4 guys considering that 4500 mile mile trip to FL and back to SF in a Prius C instead of a Lexus are nuts or have a definite masochestic complex.)

 

not likely, the ride height is set by the springs and thus only shorter springs will do that. It will raise the height because the air pressure acts as an increase in the spring rate. But it cannot reduce the spring rate. And that works for both stock and lowered ride heights. ,Incidently, we,ve been doing these on several makes for over 20 years; we used it primarily on vehicles that drivers needed better shocks and springs for trailer towing rv'/s and race cars.
