    1. I think I used petroleum gel for baby's diaper rash. :D But any grease or oil should do. Just use a tiny little bit to let the plastic deflector slide easier against the rubber trim at the point where it gets stuck.
    2. I haven't noticed any scratches.
    3. It is factory glass, no tint. If a tint film is added on the outside of the glass then yes the top part of the glass where it contacts the deflector may get scratches. If the tint film is inside of the glass then there shouldn't be any scratches.
    4. My memory is vague but I think in the first few weeks there were a few times the auto close failed. No big deal though.
I agree it is way too expensive. Someone is buying big yachts for sure. :)

Thanks to this thread I think I am ready to buy the deflectors as well.

For lubrication I am thinking to use a bit of soapy water to avoid any possible long term damage to the weather strip that may be caused by oil or grease. Plus, I am thinking when water evaporates, friction would return and help keep the deflector in place better.

I struggled with inserting my rear deflectors for about 30 minutes before finding this article. Your tip was incredibly helpful. I managed to get it in almost flawlessly by not putting the weatherstripping in until the deflector was in. And boom - it worked. :)

    hiya,

can anyone tell the difference between weathertech wind/rain deflectors and climair wind/rain deflectors?

    weathertech deflectors:

    climair deflectors:

I noticed that both can be purchased separately (front ones only or rear ones only), would you recommend to get four at once or just the front ones for start?

These comes in Dark or Light shade, which shades would look be more suitable for silver prius with slightly tinted rear windows?

The ClimAir does look very similar to WeatherTech doesn't it? Are they the same price?

Regarding the color I picked light shade for my white Prius. I think color choice is very personal and you just have to decide which one YOU like the best and ignore other people's opinion.

ClimAir appear to cost EUR102/USD131 for the set of 4 incl the taxes and delivery charge to Ireland.
I am awaiting response from the sales team at WeatherTech as whether or not they could ship to Ireland, these are USD99 or so plus the delivery charge (unknown).

You are right regarding to color. Personally I think that while my prius is silver then similarly to you I may go with lighter color.

For those who purchased front and rear door set, does it make sense to get rear ones or is it only a decoration?

Again this will probably a personal decision. The rear window can not be opened much, maybe 1 cm, before a gap opens up at the rear where the window frame slopes down. However it does look much nicer with both front and rear deflectors.

I thought the weather tech was just an easy insert and didn't know they can fall off. Are those China made inserts?

So a side question I guess to this is: Has anyone had problems rolling up their windows using the front ones? I have weather techs, and I'd hate to spend 70 dollars on two pieces of plastics that wont allow me to use my auto switch to roll up the windows.

It takes some time for the rubber molding to deform permanently to accommodate the extra thickness of the deflector. So the recommendation is to leave the windows up for a few days after the initial install. I followed the instruction and haven't had any issue with the auto up function.

Update: looking at my own posts above it seems that I have forgotten that there was a few weeks of "break-in" period.

Have you experienced any rise in the noise level as oppose to driving prior to installation of deflectors?
I mean is there more noise while driving with closed windows and the deflectors mounted?

Since I installed the deflectors very soon after I bought the car, I don't really have a good baseline to compare with. However as far as I can tell there is no leak that would cause increased noise - the glass is well sealed against the inner part of the rubber molding.

Yes the plastic has molded so all is well, to answer your question agape: If anything there is less noise, plus I can roll my window down just enough to still here little sound on the highway.

I am definitely happy with my purchase. Yes with windows crack open the noise is less than cars without deflector.

No, mine made the channel the window slides up and down larger, now air can stream at will= noise, and they rattle when the windows are slightly lowered, and... often they stop the window from closing, it abruptly stops and reverses direction, the third try sometimes works;)

If its making noise you did something wrong. there should be no opening.
