Last Prius was a 2008 Prius II.

Looking at getting a 2013 Prius v five.

Dealer is offering 300 below invoice for Costco price, but I have read the people are paying up to 2000 below invoice. Sticker on it is 31700.

    Will anybody chime in?

I think 3800 off MSRP is fair.

Your in Alaska I wouldn't expect the same type of discount as the lower 48.

Buy, the way the wagon is a "v" (lower case) so you want to buy a Prius v Five.

I'm looking to purchase a base Prius v 5 too. Based on pricing in my area, I'm looking for $2,300 below invoice. There is a manufacturer to dealer incentive of $1,000 now. I'm working with 2 dealers, one is local and only dealer in town, the other is 140 miles away. Time is money for me so if local dealer can get my OTD price within $200, I'll stay with them.

I pulled the trigger and bought a Barcelona Red Prius v 5 with mats. Price negotiated was $2,191 below invoice or $27978, msrp was $31,458. I think I got a great deal, not a screaming deal but I'm totally happy with it and I wasn't out to squeeze the dealer or my salesman of every last cent of profit. I'm in sales too so I know what it's like to have someone try and nickel and dime you to death. Plus the dealer extends the 2 yrs/25k mile free maintenance service to 3 yr/36k miles. On trading my current Prius, I think they were fair as I was over my miles on the lease already, even though the lease term doesn't end for another 7 months. This time I'm buying so I don't have to worry about mileage, and I'll be replacing our other vehicle as soon as I pay this one off. Now all I have to do is wait for my new car to arrive in a few days, no later than Friday. It's on a truck and not a dealer exchange so it will only have a few miles on it!

How much you pay under invoice can depend on the competition you have in your area. In southern Calif., there are a variety of Toyota dealers to choose from. In SC, not so many and only one dealer in my town, and it would have involved driving some distance to another town, which I was willing to do to get a better deal. Fortunately I worked it out with my local dealer for my purchase.

Believe it or not, living in OC where the Prius is #1, all dealerships wouldn't budge on price. I had to go to another county where the car is not as popular to get the best price. The dealer I bought from said they don't sell many Prius.

I am currently negotiating for my first Prius v Two. This is also my first vehicle purchase. I was shown a dealer invoice for ~27.5, msrp of 28.5. I told them I would like to walk out the door spending 28k on the car and TTL. Am I doing it right?

This brings me to another point on pricing. How good a deal you got is related directly to whose numbers you're using as a comparison. The different websites will show you different invoice and msrp figures, even though in theory at least the invoice should be the same everywhere. For what it's worth, I was basing my comparison from edmunds which gave an invoice for a v 2 with no options of about 24,800 if I'm not mistaken. If you look at truecar they will give you an invoice of around 26,000. Big difference. And I think the v 2 msrp is 26,500 so if I were you I'd tell the dealer to stop jerking me around if he wants your business. But really you need to just do the competitive pricing, it's the only way you can know you got the best price possible.

MSRP is identical for equally equipped/configured vehicle. What the so-called dealer paid price, i.e. invoice should also be the same.

The dealers net profit will differ based on many factors including sales volume, local market incentives (factory to dealer), etc....
