add factory look driving lights on 2012 less then 50.00

    Ok I have read a lot about people buying the new grill. For 100. Then lights off ebay or whatever. I did it today in an hour and I don't think it looks bad but you can decide. First I took off the front bumper. It was really easier then I thought it would be. Then I used a 3.5 inch hole saw with my drill to cut a hole where the factory hole is already located. I just lined the hole up and it cut the hole in about 15 seconds. I figured IF I screwed it up I would buy a grill with light holes like everyone else. I bought lights that looked like the factory lights from advanced auto parts for 39.00. I then mounted and wired the lights. I used a relay and a led lighted switch where the factory light switch is. I will try to post pictures I took from my phone.

    You already have factory driving DRL LED lights in the corners. Why add more?

    Actually looks very nice. They look angled inward/don't point in the same direction though, as if your car is suffering from strabismus ("Pribismus")?

    That's really beside the point. It's to achieve the look of the Five on the cheap.

    They are straight with the body. These are for night. We have a 5 and it has the driving lights and I liked the look of it. Drls turn off at night and are not focused.

    The fog housings may be, but the lights themselves seem not to point in the same angle judging from the first photo. Maybe it's because they're cheap fogs.

    How did you wire these driving lights? It is great to have a step by step instructions.

    Remember, typically to be legal in most states the driving lights should only be on when the low beams are on, they cannot be on when the high beams are active...

    I called them driving lights I guess they are really fog lights.

    It's hard to tell, but did you have to fabricate some kind of bracket to mount the foglight bracket onto? From the pictures, it almost looks like you mounted the foglight sideways with the foglight mounting bracket turned to the inside/centerline of the grill. If that's the orientation you have them mounted, then the beam patterns will be messed up for sure.

    II bought some projector type foglights recently and I will be trying to mount them on our 2011. I have both the OEM blanks and the foglight shrouds that came with the OEM foglight kit I currently have installed to work with. However, I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to fabricate some kind of an adapter bracket to get them mounted securely and in the right orientation. They are smaller in diameter than the reflector based foglights in the OEM kit, so it will be a challenge.

    they are mounted sideways BUT the ones I bought allowed me to turn the lens (and the bulbs) to right them in the correct position

    ok for those asking, I put them on the garage door and they are straight.
    Instructions:
    Open hood,
    remove plastic pop up pins on the plastic cover just before the front bumper and save them,
    remove the plastic cover that side between the lights now, the one you just took the pop up pins off.
    go to either side wheelwell and use a 10mm socket or phillips screwdriver and remove the screw on the insider bumper .
    next remove the plastic pop up pin that is just below the screw you removed, (note I had to move it a certian way but it came right out.
    next, remove the under front lip center pop up pin, the the 3 on the left and 3 on the right screws on the bottom front lip.
    next, remove the pop up pins on each side of the bottom near the wheelwell.
    now go back up top and remove the pop up pins holding the front bumper on, wait to remove the 2 metal screws in the middle,
    next go to each wheelwell and slide the front bumper out and jiggle it and it will pop off just under the front headlight.
    next go to the otherside and do the same.
    next put something under the front bumper so when it comes off you wont scatch it up.
    next undo the top 2 screws and the bumper will come right off, the reach down on the drivers side and unhook the DRLs and thats it
    next you will see you dont need to buy a special grill, your bumper already has mounting brackets for the stock lights if you want to buy them, then just use a hole saw and cut the hole.

    mtbiker, they are blazer I believe, I will look when I get home they are round and NOT oval, I believe 3 inch round or 3.25 inch round
