I know a lot of people have said the calculated cruising range that their C gives them is wrong, and this was true for me too for the first few tanks after I bought it. Lately though, I've noticed that it's giving a fair cruising range estimate:

That comes out to about 59.5 mpg, which is about 1 mpg lower than my average for the last few tanks. Either it just took a few tanks to calculate properly or it's basing it's numbers off one of the trip meters, I haven't reset either of them recently (well never, in the case of trip B).

Mine is off by maybe 20 miles, if you don't factor in the 50 after it says 0.

Right, there should be about one gallon left after it hits zero, so my math is based on 8.5 gallons. If it was comparing it to strictly my last tanks mpg it would have started at 517 instead of 507 (I drove home from the gas station, the .4 miles up there reduced it by one). Still being accurate within 10 miles or 20 miles on a tank is close enough to be useful information to the driver. When the car was brand new it listed the cruising range in the low to mid 300s, meaning it was off by more than 100 miles, and only as it got closer to 0 miles left did it get more accurate.
