We just bought a 2013 Prius Hatchback with solar roof/cooling.

Unfortunately, Toyota will not allow you to have solar cooling AND adaptive cruise control. My wife won the debate, but I really miss having the ACC here where we have speed up/slow down driving on our main road.

This seems like an obvious retrofit market. Is anyone marketing a kit that ties into the Prius Gen III cruise system?

Do you realize that the radar-compatible front emblem (radar goes behind it) is $900 alone?

Suppose it can be done if you give the body shop a blank check (as you in theory can with park assist) but it'll cost you $$$.

When this subject came up in the Phaeton forum on VWVortex, we determined it was less expensive to take a hit on depreciation and trade the car in. By the time you're done replacing emblems, controllers, steering wheel, brake booster, and wiring harness (as well as adding the radar sensor), you'd be close enough to five figures to make you pucker.

Do you have it on another vehicle?

I use (regular) cruise control a lot, but am rarely tailing another vehicle. Likely due to driving at off-peak times, coupled with a propensity to abide by speed limits. I'm not saying you don't, just that I don't spend a lot of time bogged down. But when I am in slowed down traffic, think I'd rather be in control, just cancel cruise and use the pedals.

Seems like there's a lot threads just now about adaptive cruise, maybe due to it's availability in gen 4?

I designed the software of my ACC kit, so I already defined the max speed is 110kmh (legal speed limit in Taiwan). If the heading vehicle speed is more than 110 kmh, my system will speed keep below 110 kmh.

Now I only implement this system on Camry hybrid, but I almost can make sure this system can run on any car with original cruise control. This system controls the speed of a vehicle by imitating human to press the +/- key on cruise control.
