Hey everyone. I posted a thread a couple of weeks ago with a bad experience trying to buy a Prius v from a dealer.

I can now say that I'm the proud owner of a Prius v!

I got a 2012 Prius v 2 In Barcelona Red/Tan interior that was a demo and never sold. Only 1,400 miles! I've had it for 2 days and absolutely love it. I have a 2009 Prius as well, and this just has so much more room. Not even close.

I'm one of those weird people that simply doesn't want nav, entune, and all of that other junk that you have to pay thousands more for. I will at some point do the Toyota leatherette upgrade to the seats. I think the seats are more comfortable than the ones in my '09, and I think both could benefit from the leatherette upgrade.

I got a great deal (they're blowing out unsold 2012's right now), and I'm really, really happy with the cargo space. It's going to be awesome on long trips.

I'll post a pic soon. Prob gonna wait 'til I get the windows tinted though. :)

I did similar to you. I bought a 2013 v 2 because I didn't want all the other stuff/expense - but I did get the upholstery redone. I just don't like cloth seats anymore. And, I really don't mind going from my Suburban at <15 mpg to this at 45 mpg! I kind of feel like gas is free now.

Have fun in your new ride. My v3 is now 25000 miles and 1.5 years old - still runs perfectly.

Congratulations. Does your 3/36 warranty apply when you purchased?

Congrats on your new v! We've had ours for almost 18 months now and we are very, very happy with our decision to get a Prius.

We've had our 2013 Prius v Two for about 3 months now and it's been a great car so far. I tend to get over 50 mpg, but the wife doesn't do hypermiling so that brings it down a bit :)

We bought our car using the USAA car buying service - it made the whole process quite painless.

What kind of discount did you get for your "almost new" model?

Yes. I have the remainder of the warranty. I also heard from another dealer than you can pay for your car to be Toyota certified. It costs $250 or so for them to do it. I think I'll probably get that done when the original warranty runs out.

Wow! that looks great. Did you do the job yourself, or did you have it done? Is that a Toyota kit?

    Diver,

Could you post a quick cell phone pic of your interior? I'd love to see it. A couple of questions.

Did you use the Toyota kit? Did the dealer do the re-upolster?

If you don't mind sharing, would you PM me with roughly what the seat kit and install cost was so I can get an idea?

    Thanks!

Congrats on the new v, we got ours about 3 weeks ago, Love the thing. The dealer had a few 2012 Liftbacks, but no incentives on them, we liked the larger v anyways as it was replacing a Pathfinder and the more room the better.

Congrats and welcome to the "v" club!

Very nice! Tinting the windows makes a big difference in your interior temperature.

Toyota is just another company in an ocean of companies that fail to grasp the shift that has been happening in consumer electronics and the ensuing dramatic increase in expectations of user experience from average people. It is not at all surprising that once that average person has witnessed a $300 iPad do everything from 3D maps to games to internet to high definition video to wireless self-updating of software, paying thousands of dollars for what amounts to circa-1990s graphics and hardware labelled as "advanced technology" is a really difficult pill to swallow. I think now that Tesla's dashboard is out there and providing a new reference for how things should be done, we can perhaps hope to see stuff like Entune join the rest of us here in the 21st century... :)

It's really not you that is weird, it's the automotive companies that are weird and clinging to bizarrely-antiquated hardware and software.

Lucky for you and me, the v has plenty of room for mounting electronics (I got the left-mount proclip: http://www.proclipusa.com/dashboard-mounts/vehicle/toyota/prius-v/2012-2014/proclip-left-mount-804714-18875.cmsv ... I should probably do a post on that), and your USB and 12V adapters give you enough flexibility to simultaneously have both a dedicated GPS unit (garmin, etc) and your iphone/android device hooked up at the same time.
