    ---Home Made Home Link---

I haven't seen this one - or at least not lately. I got this idea from a mod I did on my 1992 Miata.

My 2010 Prius III didn't come with home link. So, I purchased two switches from Radio Shack and sodered two wire for each button onto the garage remote (my garage remote controls both doors).

The result is a home made home link for under $10. Total time was <1 hour (will take you more time if you aren't experienced sodering).

See the two round switches in the picture below - the left one opens my left garage door, the right one my right door. BTW, you'll also see that I''ve installed the fog light kit too. priushomelink.JPG

The diy homelink looks good but where did you put the remote?

It's hidden under the dash - zipped to a cable. I left the wire long so you can change the battery without removing anything. Just clip the zip tied and change the battery

You installed the foglight switch upside down. ;)

The beam should be angled down through the fog, not upward.

Have to agree with Corwyn that it is much easier to do on the car.... Just tape around it and leave about a 2 inch square around each emblem then do about 4 coats. When peeling the square back it the emblem naturally cuts the plastidip out. Then just a quick toothpick gets the little cracks. For clean up all you need is a microfiber towel. I just wet the area with water and wiped clean first, then took a dry microfiber towel and wiped the overspray away.

Pssst.... Gen II member sneaking in to Gen III forum. Just an idea to make yer 2010 and up sleeker. I did this to my 2007 to make it look sleeker. Just a can of satin Krylon black paint and masking tape.

Honda, Nissan. Do this to their cars to streamline, Toyota, uh not so much.

Improves look greatly, photos do not due justice.

Guessing the reason that's plastic is because of road debris continuously hitting that section. Looks great tho.

All I can detect is the wheels are silver in one photo but chrome in another.

I must be awfully ignorant of the Gen II as I can't tell what you've done.

It is really hard to see, but he painted the sideskirt.
I'm personally not a fan, it makes the car look taller.

For 2012.5 and up, lower front license plate grill section and plug bumper holes for cleaner look.

All that is needed are zip ties as the profile of the factory license brackets fit the bumper contours in this area perfectly.

Not sure if this is a mod since it's factory option. Rear bumper guard, I wished I installed it sooner or better come with the car. Less than $30 if I remember right, highly recommended!

I did this as well, got the idea here on P-Chat. The two holes in the bumper fill nicely with nylon hardware store plugs, which are stick-paint paintable.

Time on my hands, so why not ? I don't know if this would look right on any other car but Winter Gray or Black. I think it looks pretty cool! And it was under budget.
