New York Bill Attempting to ban Tesla Sales

Yeahh, a poor dealer experience with a $100k car sounds like a poor business strategy.

 

Ahh.
Amazing how those dealers somehow got a hold of their products then.

 

Surprised that Franchise dealers have not started going after Starbucks. Starbucks would not franchise their stores. Only Target I am aware of so far.

 

If Starbucks ever makes cars...

They are also already have hybrid taxis. NV200 and hybrid sizes under discussion concerns replacements of the ones currently in service. When a Crown Vic or other taxi finally dies, it will have to be replaced by the Nissan or a large hybrid under these rules.

 

It's not very shocking that New York has these strict rules about dealers and crap. What IS shocking is how Rick Perry parades around saying he leads the freest state and then bans Tesla because of an outdated law that would require them to vend through dealerships.

 

Tesla is trying to get Federal legislation passed to allow sales in the USA.

It may not be innovation or foreign competition that kills the EV but lawyers and Politicians.

This is truly a sad day.

The total number of votes is increasing but NOT enough!!!!

 

The problem I believe is that the dealers would not properly present the Tesla models, plus everyone at each level of the dealership wants a cut. When I walked into a Tesla store at South Beach (Miami), FL, there was one price which is the same for all stores and no haggling. I asked every techie question I could think of, and the rep answered every one of them. I actually went twice, talked to a different person, and received the same level of detailed information. This is in contrast to what I experienced in buying my 2010 Prius. Different dealerships had different pricing, even for the same options, and some of the reps could not articulate the details of the hybrid system (and its benefits). I even had one saying that "the Prius is not a popular car" and recommended something else.

 

Blocking Tesla in-state sales simply means Internet sales instead. You know:

I'm not sure how they would, or could, have enforced it, but the NC bill would have made it illegal for Tesla to even email customers that contacted them.
