Way too dark to risk it with the expensive Pinnacle film and you've gotten ticketed for that too.

Expensive? Yeah, I can definitely agree with that aspect. The only reason I got pulled over for my tint was because I was speeding going down a hill. He ticketed me for my tint and let me off for speeding though, which is fine by me. Otherwise, I have not been pulled over solely for my tint ever in the 3 1/2 years that I've had it. Each to their own though!

Factory windows are tinted ~75% in the glass all around except the lower rear hatch which is factory tinted 29%. There's nothing OEM looking about disparate tint as it doesn't come that way from factory, but you probably meant stock looking as in untinted.

Get whatever tint you are most happy with BUT....

If you are knowingly violating local tint laws, don't come back in 6 months, 12 months, complaining about how the "evil" policeman gave you a violation ticket.

I really wish laws concerning tint levels were uniform. That there were accepted industry standards accepted nation wide.

You seem confused, being legal has nothing to do with 'patting my self on the back.' If the law is wrong, have it changed. In CA it might mean hiring a lot of new Police Officers, as your current officers seem to fear being shot through tinted glass.

Apparently not, as they don't seem to be enforcing the 70% limit and normally won't ticket you unless you go as dark as LulzChicken. Heck, I've even been pulled over for having no front license plate yet they completely ignored my 35% tint on a previous car.

Without opposition from Police Officers, it should be easy to change the law, what other group would oppose it?

Speaking as a motorcyclist I *hate* front side window tint.

One of the most valuable tools in my defensive riding arsenal is establishment of eye contact with the driver of the other vehicle. With some of these tints I can't even tell if the car's occupied.

I'm also with Jimbo on the basic ethics. Why would I spend money to equip my car in a way that I know is illegal?

I don't know, but it's quite silly to throw the illegal card when you have no problem with 28% in your own state.

I agree, but 70% is quite light, basically nothing. None of the states allow such a dark tint on the front side windows that you can't make eye contact so all those people even in Jimbo's state have illegal tint. What's legal and what's ethical are two different things. Jimbo's throwing the illegal card has nothing to do with basic ethics.

I added 35% (block 45% heat) myself to the rear side windows. Is it as dark as what I was expecting, no. But for night driving I'm glad I didn't go any darker.
I also added window vents to all 4 windows which I think did more for the looks and helps with sun too.

28% is not illegal in my state, And if the OP were in my state, he could tint to 28%. He is not in my state, he is in CA, and there he can't legally tint ANY of the choices he presented us with. I did not notice a choice where he moved to what he wanted WAS legal.

None of the choices in the poll would be legal in MS either, so far as it goes. All tint some window to 15% which will not pass the yearly inspection.

No yearly inspection in CA =}. Just the police patrolling everywhere. This post was never a question of being legal or not. It's a question of what percentage tint I should choose.

I merely noted I could not choose ANY of the alternatives.

35% front 15% rear and hatch. Went against my original choice of 35% all the way around and 15% hatch
