    Hi All
I have a 2012 Prius five with the display audio with entune. Does anybody know if i would be able to do a simple swap for the premium hdd navigation from a 2012 advanced pkg that I came across? I would think all of the connections should be pretty much similar. Thanks in advance

Curious about this too. Signed up on this forum just to look for this answer but having a tough finding anything specific to upgrading to OEM HDD premium. My guess is it's plug n play esp if you have a 6" navi with JBL. Noticed a lot of people here do swaps to aftermarket navs, be it Chinese or high quality names like Alpine, JVC, etc.

My guess is given the cost of the HDD Premium nav from Toyota (~$1,000 on eBay), most find a better value just to get a high quality aftermarket.

Thanks for your input. I'm extremely laY and hesitant to retrofit or rewire when it comes to putting in non genuine parts that are not direct plug and play. Plus I want to make sure Toyota will never have a reason to deny a repair of an electronic issue due to a non toyota part. At my local junk yard I found a hdd navi for 750 but I just wanted to make sure everything works such as camera radio and all of the onboard computers.

Yeah the oem display accesses a lot of the diagnostic stuff for this car so I don't blame you. I'd ask crutchfield whether any aftermarket will be direct PnP. Calling them gets you straight answers. I've had lots of aftermarket stuff on prior cars and most of the time, you get a higher quality unit for same $ or less. Unless someone here has done the oem hdd premium navi upgrade and can chime in...

:)Back in January of this year, I was looking for a new Prius. My local dealer had a used 2010 Prius 5 with ATP. New to Prius, I liked the car. As stated, I wanted new. They then show me a new 2012 Prius 5 without ATP. I was surprised at the downgrade of the small, non ATP display. I was interested in the Prius 5 and the price they quoted. But, I stated, it had to have the larger 7" display. I was told that it wasn't a simple swap (plug in play). As a result, I passed on the Prius 5 on hand and put a deposit on a inbound 2013 Prius 5 w/ATP. Once I got wind of the good deals on closeout 2012 PIPs, I found a 2012 Plug In Advance and purchased it. The 7" display is a huge improvement and well worth the extra cost to me to include other features w/ATP and the Plug In Advance. Trying to retrofit/add missing options is frustrating, expensive, and many times impossible.

I have noticed that the dealer parts counter and sales people are really not the best to ask such questions. You really have to ask one of their electronics service techs. I just dont really see how its not plug-in-play since the whole headunit that coming out and its not like we are swapping something out that has climate control for exmple. Both these Nav systems basically do the same thing and access the same modules really but its just one has a bigger screen and more performance. I would the package Four with Solar and package Five with ATP have same HDD nav. As such, all those items that come on ATP package (LKA, Radar Cruise) should not have anything to do with Navi. Just my 2cents.
