Why can I not make Entune App use my phone via data cable (instead of Bluetooth)

    Is Bluetooth the only way to make Entune apps work?

    I always connect my phone to keep it charged. Can Entune not use that connection?

    My entune doesn't work unless connected by the cable.

    Wow. This is crazy. You mean to say ... It allows you access to Pandora thru the data cable? When I try that it says, no Bluetooth connection.

    I just realized you have a plug-in advance. I just have a Prius 3 so it may be a different system in your car than mine.

    Can anyone else corroborate this?

    In my vehicle 'Apps' will not allow me to use my iPhone5 via cable ... Only via Bluetooth.

    I have a Prius 4 with JBL audio and nav, and the only way I can connect to the Internet and control Pandora with the audio system is through the cable. I can stream Pandora through Bluetooth, but I have to control it from my phone if I do.

    I have an iPhone 4; the dealer told me that Entune doesn't work very well with the iPhone 5.

    I have the iPhone 5 and I connect via Bluetooth just fine. Pandora works as it should, and I control the music and stations via the nav unit.

    PS. I the HDD nav unit, in case that makes a difference.

    there are 2 system in the Pruis.

    1 - Display Audio with Entune
    2 - HDD Navi and Entune

    system 1: Without a mobile hotspot plan, you must run Entune App on the phone and it has to connect over USB.
    with mobile hotspot, you can do it over bluetooth with connecting.

    system 2: It works over Bluetooth, however fellow forumers has pointed out one will experience issues when you have iphone connected over USB. The work around many shared here is to run your entune app after connecting over USB.
