My friend has an old Rav4 with a flat tire. She has the tire but not the tools. Are the spare tire tools for my Prius sufficient to change a tire on a mini SUV like the Rav4? Please let me know ASAP. Thanks!!!

The Prius is 3000lbs. An old 90's Rav4 is less than that. A 2001+ is more than that. The new ones are 3600+ lbs.

So if your friend has an OLD Rav4, then sure. If it is from this millenium, then no.

Thanks, but what about the height? (when jacking it up)

Ground clearance is 7.5 to 8 inches I believe instead of the 6-ish the Prius has. But again, there is a very big difference between the first generations in the 90's and what there is today.

However some nice big pieces of 2x6 underneath in an emergency is acceptable. The stock jack in the Rav 4's barely have enough height to get stock tires off.
If you support the vehicle this way NEVER get under the vehicle, it is not stable and work carefully. 3000lbs over 3 tires and a jack means that it is not too bad, but wood compresses more than pavement which can cause things to shift.

These are the times you should call AAA. :)

I suggest getting a jack-stand from harbor-freight or pep-boys to set under the vehicle once you get it jacked in the air. Something similar to these:

The jack stands from harbor-freight shouldn't be too terribly expensive. But how can you put a price on safety?
I wish you were close, I have all the tools necessary... 2 ton jack, jack stands etc...

    Good luck macmaster05!

Glad to hear your friend was able to get it taken care of. I know what it's like to be stranded like that, and it's not cool. Glad the situation is better now! :)
