The paint on my 2013 silver chips way too easy and the dark grey underneath looks terrible. Never had a car with such a bad paint. It may be endemic of all new low VOC paints. I am not really happy.

I'm going to get protection through

Invisible Mask - Clear Bra Automotive Paint Protection, 3M Scotchgard, Carbon Fiber 3M Films

    and install it myself.

They have both 3m Scotchguard and Ventureshield option at same price. I believe 3M bought out Ventureshield and am wondering the difference?

I have considered doing the same, but have been worried about getting decent results. Also, the film is now up to about $400 which IIRC is close to what I could get it installed for.

There's a new spray-on shield by 3M that looks interesting, but I haven't looked at it in detail yet.

Here too. I don't know what paint they use, it's not as good as my last car (Sentra 2003).

Funny thing is, in the forums for my other cars, people ask the same questions as if the paint on THEIR make of cars is inherently defective...Lmao.

ALL cars are "prone" to chips by sharp, hard objects such as rocks at freeway speeds...
