I have won many a race in mine. I think it gets off the line better than most cars. Mix that with a quick reaction time and you are hard to beat up until about 30 mph.

It isn't bad at racing. You just need to pick the right race. To be fair, any race with a C should include an opposing hybrid. Even with a head start, you wouldn't want to race a tesla.

    This is more suited..

Even a C could beat a Tesla if the person has God Awful reactions. :D

same way they do when the Prius c is on track cornering OK but damn get out of the way on exit. try you tube "Prissy in traffic". Admittedly those other cars are a whole lot more powerful and shod with race tires but still ...

If it's the lowest Model S, all you need is 4.6 seconds... yeah, ok... that's a lot.

So what cars did you race, ztanos? How many wins/losses?
And don't spare the juicy details

I've race a Corvette and got smoked... but come on... it's fun. :) I've raced a few BMWs but luckily the people don't know how to shift around here. :) My favorite is to smoke the V6 Mustangs. Those kids have awful reaction time to the lights and once they are losing they just don't push themselves it seems. I've beaten my coworkers 1998 Camry, he actually jumped me off the line but I reeled him back in... barely. That's pretty much it... being in a "pull-me-over" Orange car kind of limits what you can do.

Racing the corvette is worth it for the laughs alone. The sound of grinding gears. And I remember a youtube vid of a stoned guy in his v6 mustang. He was bragging about his "intaker" which was nothing but a fancy air filter. And if you could beat a 1998 camry, a beater 1994 sounds easier.

    Perhaps. Perhaps not.

Under full pedal there may be no difference in time to distance. However, it's common knowledge that the ECO button changes the software. How, exactly, is a guess, but is sure turns up the squelch on the gas pedal and how the car reacts to its use. If someone can't feel any difference in how the car reacts between ECO on and ECO off then perhaps they aren't the go-to person on how it feels. Maybe they can't tell, maybe there's some Hi-C koolaide in the cupholder.

Until there's a number of runs done with timing gear it's just conjecture. Until a driver personally tries both ECO on and off with spirited driving it's just opinion. I know the MPG meter sure thinks theres a difference.

I won't argue it, just clearing up some misinformation.

It's hard to get a race when I drive the Camaro. I've only had a handful. I don't go out looking for them, but sometimes they just happen. The lights are right, the two cars at the lead in the lanes are competitive, and the road is clear.

The only Mustang drivers that look ready are the highly modified ones or the newer ones that could probably do a number on me. I'm past the age where it really means anything to race, the numbers for each car are what they are and bench racing is the easiest on the insurance payments. But OCCASIONally, it's fun to stir things up.

And, yes, the bright orange car is likely to be the one to get the eye of everyone, including the coppers.

not being too scientific about it, and not having that button on my car as well, I could only hazard a guess that there will still be some delay or lag in ECO at the onset when putting the pedal to the metal versus PWR mode where sensitivity to throttle response will be almost instantaneous. This, will therefore, mean a better reaction time (from the car) off the line than staying in ECO all the way. Why confuse the computer with ECO ON when you you're planning race someone and jump off the line as quickly as possible. Reaction times could mean winning or losing the race -- both from the driver AND the car.

I've run my torque app on both ECO and non-ECO. Torque will generate a 0-60 time for you. I don't remember what times they were (they weren't worth remembering, lol), but I do know they were within a tenth of each other.

Not really... the diagrams from the Toyota materials have been posted numerous times, to the point that I would have considered them to also be well known.

ECO Mode changes the mapping of the pedal to be less sensitive in the initial part of travel and more sensitive in the final part of travel, but full pedal displacement has the exact same function in both normal mode and ECO mode.

ECO Mode additionally changes the logic of the air conditioning system.

I agree, it's not worth arguing over. The button does what it does.

There is this bit. We all know this:

    1. ECO Mode
    a. Maximizes fuel savings across all driving conditions
    b. Modifies or smoothes out the electronic throttle controlprogram to reduce throttle response
1)Reduces throttle opening up to a maximum of 11.6%
    c. Modifies air conditioning operation
    d. Also improves acceleration performance in low-tractionconditions such as ice and snow as the reduced outputhelps to minimize wheel slippage

I was thinking about some of the more specific curves, commands, and parts that we don't see or know enough about. Or, at least, that I have not come across to this point.

Nothing here except that it reduces throttle response, as I mentioned.

Really, this slavish need to have ECO on every second is depressing. Not that I'm accusing you of that, Rob.

"Wow. Let's go all out today and wear a lighter shade of beige."
