2007 with 107,000 mi warning lights came on

The car had been sitting for 4 days, while driving it locally on the evening of the 4th day it ran normally, on the way home the master warning light came on along with vsc, check engine, yellow brake light. Also on the display the car symbol with exclamation mark came on which manual indicates there is something wrong with the hybrid system. The car shuttered momentarily so we pulled over and let the battery charge. We were able to drive it back to where we were staying . That night we checked the 12v following instructions on youtube and it seemed fine (it is the original battery). The next day we headed home which was approx. a 5 hour drive. The car started as usual a couple of the lights were still on (master warning, check engine & car w/ !) The car ran normally and 2 hours into the drive all the lights and symbols went away. The next day we drove it approx. 10 miles and on the way home accelerating up a small hill the master warning came on for just a second and also the display showed "problem" and beeped momentarily. We drove it to the dealer (drove normally no warning lights or sounds). The dealer found these diagnostic codes : P3000 and P0A80 In addition to 5 B codes, they are saying it needs a new hybrid battery.
I called Toyota Headquarters and they have agreed to pay 50% of battery cost and I will have to pay the other half plus $500 installation. My total is about $2300.
Is it possible that the 12v battery could be responsible for the above happening?

Thanks for your reply. I will talk to dealer tomorrow before they put in hybrid battery and ask them about the 12v. I agree with taking advantage of Toyota paying half but unfortunately they only give a 12 month warranty with the new battery. I do plan to keep my car as long as possible.

 

That's great that yours was still under warranty. Mine only has the 100,000 mile warranty or 8 yrs whichever comes first so it is just over and I think that's why Toyota was willing to pay half. Pennsylvania did not become a CARB state until 2008 Thanks.
