I had a VW Jetta TDI which the up keep was killing me. Every couple of months I was spending more on some type of repair. Now that I have Prius looking forward to no surprises every few month.
I see the comments about the high maintenance cost for BMW's, & such. I was wondering does anyone know what that means? Does the oil changes cost more? What is thecost of upkeep for those type of vehicles?

At this point in time the German brands(Porsche seems to buck it) trend below the industry average for reliability.

Then luxury and high performance cars can have obscene prices for maintenance items, but I believe this has more to do with what the dealer charges. One of the reasons the public doesn't like SCR and urea with diesels is because of stories about Mercedes dealers charging $100+ to fill the tank. Do it yourself and the fluid will run you about $25 from Wal-mart. Just saw a random post were the guy only paid $500 for a Porsche Boxter oil change and maintenance service. The car takes Mobil1.
