Did a search. Nothing useful. Is there a way to see the cars firmware version?

I ask cause I see some pics with some cars having more info in their dash displays and also my navi display does not auto to night mode as it should. So I wanted to be informed before I called the dealer for a free firmware update.

Those type things vary from one model to another, as does the software. You first need to establish what model system you have.

Hmmmm you may be right. However the things I mentioned do not seem to be anything but a firmware issue. The auto dimming night mode should work as you can plainly see the sensor on the dash to the right and the dash info is just more info that's all. I have a 2010 IV package I believe. Navi/solar roof etc etc.

I'm still learning how Pearl S reacts to night mode, but I suspect you may have the dash lights set the same for day and night. That setting may be holding the nav. in day mode.

Also, if the dimmer switch is not all the way up like posted above, there is a setting that controls the Day/Night mode of the Nav.

Press the Display button and turn the headlights on. A Day Mode selection will appear with a choice for ON and OFF. I believe if you turn this to ON the Nav screen will remain in Day mode.

Guys it should be Automatic. You cannot tell me that Toyota dropped a ball like that. I know about the on off feature and the knob all the way up thing lol. Both my 2005 Lexus RX and 2006 Lexus GX do it. they are 5-4 yrs older tech. Has to be firmware. The same sensor in there as my others cars. I was told on another thread it is auto after the update that is supposed to be free. Who the hell wants to play with settings every day over such a simple thing? My buddy has the 2010 and it does it as he tells me sooooo.

well i have 2010 prius III navi/solar package and mine didnt do it either so while i was driving on highway at night i played with some settings and it switched to night mode, so now whenever its dark and as soon as i turn the parking lights on it switched to night mode, the sensor doesnt affect but manually turning on lights tells it to switch to night mode and turning off lights all the way switch it back to day mode. if you can find some solution on how you made sensors to work please do let me know.

This is what it shows for my 2012, from the manual,
Depending on the position of the headlight
switch, the screen changes to day
    or night mode.

YMMV different models can be different.
P.S. Go to the nav sceen, Settings, and check for day / night.

So strange. So we are forced to drive without the headlights on during the day to keep day mode in the navi if we want the night mode to work? How mundane for a tech car. I run them all the time with the fogs. I think its safer. Just a mess in tech implementation I think here. I bet they said "Well we have to downgrade cause its not a Lexus CT"? I'm stumped and peeved lol.

Thanks for the info Umar :)

Ok so I see there is color in the dash that the 2010 does not have. I just do not understand why my 2010 should be - this detailed info. Just on example of what I am talking about from a 2012. Took this image from a thread here :) .jpg

My car does not have all the info in that Mose like avg. and such. Plus other small details. Maybe it is just the later models :(. Such a fail if that's so. Such simple upgrades just to the screen. Must be other stuff too.

The little car is the EV indicator (running on the battery alone). ECO is a different throttle position to save fuel as compared to the throttle position when you push Power mode button. As Umar Ali said, the trip button displays the trip A/B information as you see it on the bottom of the pic you posted. The DISP button controls the graphic above the trip A/B information.

well i tried everything but i have never been able to see that little car indicator on screen when driving in ev mode eco mode or power mode. is it something with my display or what? i drove 2013 model rentals couple of times before i purchased mine and it shows car icon for ev mode as well as when you turn the car off the MID displays the mpg for the trip and some info but in my car it doesnt display that info when turn off the car it just shows time and odometer reading and thats about it. do i need some upgrading in some software or 2010 is just this way.

Mine is a 2013 and I have never driven a 2010 so I can't really compare the 2 different model years for the display components. I would ask the dealer's service dept.
