Just got home from finalizing the paperwork and things. 2013 Prius Four in Winter Gray Metallic with the Dark Gray interior. Terrible picture from my phone, but I figure most of us are pretty familiar with it.

My goals: getting into the 600 miles per tank thread. Based on my fairly limited driving in our Two I think I can get there on my regular commute. Might take me a few tanks though.

This is in addition to our 2012 Prius Two in Blizzard Pearl with the Dark Gray interior that my wife drives.

    Thanks guys.

I have a question, the dealer put nitrogen in the tires, under a program called NitroFill. I didn't ask for this, but it was already done when I got there and I didn't want to spend any more time at the dealer than I had too. Is this nitrogen in the tires ok for MPG like it's supposed to be? Can I just replace it with "regular" air in the future? Any thoughts on that?

Hah. I haven't decided yet if I like them or not.

    :)Yes, yes, & yes.

:)Keep them. You don't want your new Prius looking like a "junkyard dog".

I like that color too, if you have the black wheels, I agree with previous post, leave them on. To me, the black wheels look like they're just really dirty aluminum wheels.

Getting a 600 mile tank is not hard at all. Perhaps you already knew this, you could actually get better mpg when the traffic is a little more congested. This happened to me a few times when the traffic condition forced me to drive 55 mph or less vs 65 mph that I normally do when the roads are clear.

Wow another household with two Prius' s. Congrats. I would almost bet that if every family had at least one it could drive the price of gasoline under two dollars a gallon.

Yeah it was between Blizzard Pearl and Winter Gray. Because we already had one Blizzard Pearl I thought it might be a little silly to have two of the same car in the same color.

Yes, I'm lucky enough to drive in a bit of traffic both going to work and coming home. Slightly uphill going to work and slightly downhill coming home. I've managed near 65MPG coming home in our other Prius.

And, I've had previously trouble with speeding, so I don't ever get above 5MPH over the limit anymore.

My commute isn't tremendously long, about 250 miles a week, but it just didn't make sense for me to buy a car that got 40MPG when I know I can get near 60MPG in a Prius. I don't know whether or not this car is better for the environment or not when you consider everything about it, but, I do know that I won't have to go to the gas station as much which pleases me. I would have bought a Leaf if I had a place to charge it.

Since the earth's atmosphere is 78% nitrogen, feel free to add compressed air to your tires. Most likely, your dealer uses nitrogen for additional markup. My Toyota dealer switched from the scam of filling tires with nitrogen to etching windows with security numbers for an additional 300 bucks. They etch the windows as new cars are unloaded from transport trailers to make sure the additional dealer markup is secured.

Since my Prius was tagged for purchase while in transit, I was able to skip the window etching. It's amazing that they even etch windows on new Lexus models with the SOS location service.

Further, the numbers are not even properly aligned when etched...similar to how the dealer slaps their name on your car and does not have enough pride to properly align the decal.

For the record my dealer didn't charge me for the nitrogen filled tires, wasn't even mentioned until the very end of the process. They would have most assuredly tried to say "but we are giving you awesome additions like 'nitrofill' and we can't come down on the price" during the negotiations. All of the other dealers did the same "we'll throw in floormats." "They are $90 shipped online, I don't care if you guys charge $200 or more for them." Well, you guys/gals know what I mean.

The only mod I'm interested in are those Japanese headlights without the orange reflector. I see threads and posts where people say they have them, but I haven't seen any details. Where'd they get them? How much they cost? How is the install? Straight swap or extra wiring, etc?

In NZ for some reason they call the colour of your new car 'Stealth'. I think they look great in this.

Stealth is a much better name than Winter Gray. Winter Gray sounds kind of depressing.

However, I know from past experience with Hyundai, many colors that looked similar from the North American market and the Australian/New Zealand market, would be slightly different and therefore have slightly different paint codes. I wonder...

When I get a chance to take some better pics I'll post 'em there.

The last two picture of my 2002 Hyundai Elantra GLS that I had since new. You might be able to tell that I hadn't washed it in two years! You can see that there was some front end damage as well, dents, scratches, etc etc.

Congrats on your new Prius! Mine is Sea Glass Pearl, a little bit better for the desert I'm afraid. But it looks great!
