Has anyone else used the "Perma Plate" Automotive protection system? It's supposed to be a Paintguard/Fiberguard/Leatherguard compound. It goes on the whole outside (windows and all), and on the whole interior (including the seats).
Just wondering if anyone else has used it and what are the thoughts on it if so.
    Thanks for any reply's

Try Google "perma plate snake oil" and you will find that some think it worthless, and at best over priced. If you have several hundred dollars you can see for yourself what it does.

You may detect a bit of skepticism in my response. But wait, there is someone out there who thinks it great stuff!

I guess I will find out then. It was one of those things that the dealer hit me with while signing the papers and I had never heard of the stuff. He started out at $600.00 but I said no until he got to $300.00 and I said ok.
    Hopefully I didn't waste $300.00, we'll see. (n)

I would back out. There is a thread a little while back where someone was able to get out of the deal due to buyers remorse. Your big problem is that this is not a quality detail (in which $300 would go far towards). From what I hear, they pretty much slap the stuff on without proper paint prep (there is a bunch of crud even on a new car). Often times you end up with more scratches that you have to deal with later.

I purchased a couple of bottles of Simoniz Glass Coat off of eBay and applied it a year, ago. I paid $100 for both bottles delivered. It was absolutely easy to apply. It works, but I would not pay the $500 that the dealer would charge. It is supposed to be sold with an insurance policy which actually cost the dealer $300 and not available for the consumer.

After a year, rain still beads on it.

I made the mistake of applying it to the painted front bumper wheel well edges. Then I applied black undercoating to finish off the edges of the wheel wells. The black undercoating is coming off the Glass Coat treated areas. I'm glad that I installed the shark fin antenna before applying the Glass Coat. The sticker might not have stuck to it. I can't stick masking tape to it and have it stay on.

It's a decent product, but you're paying for a warranty. The products are worth about 50 bucks.
The dealer sold you a bill of goods for a B/S warranty. It's all designed to make the Stealer free money
and make you feel like you got something worth a crap. Too bad you didn't. They always start way high
and quickly drop it to a lower price, knowing 80% of buyer will bite on it. It's a marketing trick made to
get you to believe it's a deal. Kinda like a Winter Sales Event. Or a Summer Sales Event. It's designed to
dupe you into parting with your money. They know you want the best for your new car and they'll tell
you anything to get you to waste money on junk that's worth very little. Our dealer sold that stuff too

You're correct. I got it for what it is worth. Like the earlier yesteryear rustproofing, it's effectiveness depended on how careful it is applied. Generally, the dealer is lackadaisical and depends on the insurance. In doing it myself, I carefully made sure that it carefully and fully applied. The dealer usually does it in an hour. I took three.

I believe I got a much better job.

Unfortunately I had it done this morning and I watched them do it. Actually they did an excellent job of cleaning the car first and then applying the Perma Plate. It took them about 2 hrs.
Since the car is brand new, there was no damage to the paint or interior yet so it looks good. Time will tell.
    Correct, it's a 7 year warranty.

The best warranty is one that "you NEVER have to use."

A job well done with quality products IS THE BEST WARRANTY OF ALL.

All their warranty is, is an INSURANCE POLICY, with limitations.

I rather keep the money that I'd pay on the INSURANCE POLICY. If I don't use the CASH, it's ALL mine with interest.

If I do use my CASH in the future, there are no such thing as a non-covered exclusion.

You also know very well, that everyone in the "food chain" has been fed well in the insurance policy. That's why they are in business.
