Softex on a 3?

    Can my sister in law have the softex seats installed in the 3 she just bought? The dealer told her no, they can only install leather. Is that really true?

    She can buy seats for a 4 with softex, but it will be cheaper just to buy seat covers.

    Why would you want soft tex? Leather is better all around. I picked cloth over the soft tex, soft tex is just fancy vinyl.

    She likes that it's Eco friendly and hated the cloth.

    Try sheep skin seat covers, that will solve all issues, and its cow friendly.

    Sounds Eco friendly to me. They couldn't find a 4 in summer rain in our area, so they sold her on the 3 and are installing heated leather seats today.

    SL does.

    Your call.
    The folks in Northeast Japan might have pretty strong opinions about that.
    Whether or not cows are earth friendly is an argument that I'll leave to the eco-weenies, but I think that the pleather that Toyota uses as their up-optioned seating surface is a good material. I just wouldn't pay 23K for a car that starts out life as a 19K juust to get a few hundred dollars worth of baubles and an upgraded seating surface.

    The answer to the ORIGINAL question:
    ..is probably no.
    Oh you could probably order and install seats from a 'four' but it's not going to be cheap.
    My advice:
    Seat covers. :)

    She already got the leather.

    Would it make some of you happier if I said the Softex is more Eco-friendly than regular leather, rather than JUST Eco-friendly.

    Geez, now I remember why I don't do forums so much anymore.

    This thread gives me the urge to get jump in the Tuscon, with leather seats, and grab a Big Mac. I can always jump in my Prii and use it as a confessional to cleanse me of all my un-eco friendly sins. :p

    U really want to be eco-friendly try taking out the seats and drive on a milk crate and then you will be happy with cloth or soft tec or any material.

    Milk crates are plastic... they're even worse for the environment... at least by killing a cow you are limiting the amount of methane in the air. :ROFLMAO:
