Last month I purchased a 2013 Prius Liftback (Four). This is my first Prius and Toyota vehicle. I absolutely love driving this car!

What is the "recommended" PIP level to refill the gas tank? I know you don't want it too low, but what is ideal?

On the first tank of gas I wanted to see if I could get 500+ miles out of it. I let it get to the last PIP (it was not blinking) before making the trip to the gas station.

I was at 520 mi & 60.9 MPG (displayed on the HSI).

    Filled up 8.9 gal @ $3.55 = $31.59.

After having this car for a month there are two things I will ask the dealership to change when I take it in for its first tire rotation:
    • Turn OFF the headlamps immediately when the car is turned OFF. My headlamps turn ON when I pull into my garage (my model has auto headlamps) and then stay on for 30 seconds. I don't want to waste battery power.
    • Turn OFF the reverse beeping. One beep wouldn't be bad, but the continuous beeping can just stop.
My car sits outside during the day while I'm inside at work. It's been really HOT lately and I've thought about getting a heat shield for the front windshield or even getting the windows tinted (I've always had my windows tinted, but I'm not sure about it on this car. No real reason why).

I'm curious also why the little rear window next to the liftback has the defrost lines, but the driver side doesn't?

Can you tint a window w/ the defrost lines? Does it shorten the life of the tint? Or impact the ability to defrost the window? Did you get your Prius tinted?

I'm also not crazy about the carpet mats on the floor, but they'll wear out eventually.

    Thanks a lot!

Welcome to PriusChat and congratulations on your new purchase. Great first tank mpg!

I fill up at 1/4 tank, 2 pips, like every other car I have owned.

I purchased mine with tinted windows except for front window. I purchased a heat shield from the PriusChat Shop that completely covers the windshield. It also helps support this site.

I drive until the last pip beep, then drive some more until distance to empty = 0, then drive some more until (tank miles = tank mpg*10). :D

And it's never needed more than 10.3 gallons at a fillup.

Are you referring to the window behind the passenger side rear door? Maybe they only added the defroster on that side since you (as the driver) cannot see outside the one on the driver side.

And, yes, you can add tint - it's the same as tinting the back window.

Congrats on the new ride - I hope to get mine soon - you should also post pics - we love pics. :D

I fill mine up when I get over 500 miles. :p my tank on the prius c is supposed to be 9.4 gal. I think. I hope my winter mpg will allow me to keep doing this:unsure: I think i'll fill it up whenever I want. If the fuel gauge indicates to get fuel I will obey! If you go too far after it says to get gas and you run out. that would be a real pain in the um?? neck. So do what ever you want until it says get gas then OBEY your car.

Try for a 500 or 600 mile tank, then after that fill up whenever you want.
