It's definitely not an issue with my iPhone. I've tested Entune with multiple iDevices (iPhone 5, 4S, 4, iPod Touch 5th Gen) with both iOS 6 & 7 in which the same issues occur.

From what I've been told, it's an issue with the way Entune "works" with the iPhone that needs to be fixed. I was given no ETA of course.

what I meant was what is the issue, I don't mean it is an Apple issue.

On another note, when I went to the dealership to get the Entune 2.2 update, I was told I needed to do it via the Entune app on the iPhone. REALLY???? I guess they have no idea the Entune app on the iPhone is practically useless and you cannot use it when it's paired to the Entune system for internet.

I went to a different dealership and they did the update in 5 mins. I do appreciate that I know what side of the street my destination is on now. Other than that, they software update didn't fix anything important for me.

I don't know what the issue is and Toyota wouldn't tell me. All they would say is "It's a known issue and we are working to get it resolved". Your guess is as good as mine.

The issue I'm having is that the system refuses to remember Bluetooth settings per device not to mention not pairing every time. Also, I cannot tether internet to the Entune system without using the USB cable because the Entune App and the Entune System wont interface across Bluetooth via the iPhone.

wait u just complained U have an issue and I gather it is the fact you have to connect USB for entune to work?
U can do that thru mobile hotspot if that were the case.

I don't even know what to guess for a start, time or kind of issue.. LOL

System should always remember pairing. if pairing info is getting cleared all the time, you better get the box changed.
connection on the other hand happens after pairing. Pairing is the process of getting the phone setup to use with the system. After pairing BT does a connection..

refuse to remember BT settings? what kind?

as for doing Entune over BT it has it own set of issues. Google around there are a good number of ppl complaining about it. I don't think Toyota is doing nay major change so I don't see that getting fix for this system.

    side note:
in this system streaming audio data comes in as data and it gets decoded in the system.

in the Premium Navi system, streaming audio data comes into the system as Bluetooth audio. The phone decodes the data and re-encode it to Bluetooth format. An Audiophile may not like Bluetooth as it is lossy, but most ppl don't care. oh since the decoding happens on the phone it drains alot of battery, if you plug in your phone you have another issue waiting for you.

    Issues
    1. Entune App & Entune System wont connect via Bluetooth. Hotspot is a workout around and isn't a fix.
    2. Entune system fails to remember Bluetooth setting per device.
    3. Entune system doesn't always connect the proper device unless all other devices have Bluetooth disabled.
    4. Entune system automatically switches inputs to a device that is plugged into USB containing music. It even interrupts the backup camera. If you then immediately change the input back to what you had previously, Entune system will revert back to USB music a few seconds after. Very annoying.

There are more but these are the top notch ones for me.

Thanks for the info. I'm very well versed with technology so paring and all that is not new to me.

Bluetooth settings such as what device will act as a phone, what device will act as a media player. The internet feature in the Bluetooth settings doesn't work at all. The only way to use that feature is via USB with the Entune APP running. Battery life I'm not worried about as I have a Juice Pack Helium and a Juice Pack Powerstation Duo.

    1. Hotspot is by design, look at EU system.
    2. Complain to dealer and get a report written up.
    3. Never have the issue before, complain to the dealer and get a report written up.
    4. That is a design, this may get fixed I heard. If it is out should be this mth or next.

Does Pandora come with the system? At what cost? Or are you using data from your phone plan?

It's free via data phone plan. You need to have internet access to make it work.

That's kinda what I figured. That would really do a number on your data plan, eh?

I'm using entune (mainly Pandora) about 1.5-2 hours per day and averaging about 1.2 Gb per month.

Considering the amount of ire I'd seen directed at Entune, I just had to LOL when I saw this thread title, before reading any of the posts.

Fortunately (?) I don't have a car with it yet...

The only access we have to internet at our home wayout in the country is via our iPhone and MiFi. 6gs a month. I work from home so this is critical. If I start streaming anything at all I'll never get through the month.

Yesterday Toyota announced that Entune would not expire--it is now subscription free. That is a satellite radio killer for me--I was trying to decide about renewing Sirius/XM, but now I see no need for it, as I don't follow sports and I can listen to Pandora and iHeart radio for free. I use Entune via Bluetooth with my old iphone 3G and have no issues. (Luckily, I also have an old AT&T unlimited data plan, which is no longer offered.)

Even before I dumped my smartphone I only used the Map app. On two long trips it has performed in stellar fashion so far. I had Maps running on an iPhone, and Google Maps running on an iPad on the same trips. The Entune navi worked fine in dash. I think most of the app crap in cars has been over-marketed, so what's new? I've not had any problems with the entire system except the USB device butting into the radio when powered on.

I'm absolutely amazed at how much people pay for their data plans now. I'm glad it's off my budget.
