I found a very helpful thread here showing the differences between the various option packages offered throughout the years for the Gen II Prius. I'm wondering if someone has compiled a similar list for those of us on the hunt for a Gen III? I could not find a good source of info by doing a search, but I'm sure I'm not the first to wonder what the various years offered.

It seems the majority opinion is to purchase a Gen III over a Gen II, and to avoid the 2010 model for unspecified reasons.

Yeah, would be a good thread.

People probably say avoid the 2010s because it was the first year of the new model.

One of the best places to compare the differences in option packages is the advertising brochures offered at the dealership or the Toyota website.

On any car by any manufacturer it is best to avoid the first year of a new model. My 2010, for example, has had more squeaks and rattles than any car I have ever owned.

I agree, but the OP wants to see the breakdowns over the entire generation, year by year.

    So the 2010 1-5, 2011 1-5, 2012 One-Five, and 2013 One-Five. In addtion to Persona, Plus, etc.

I can pretty well get the options for the current model year from the Toyota website, but there is a lack of information about previous years. For instance, I'm looking at a 2010 so that I can get the latest generation and save a few bucks, but Bluetooth phone is a must. What option package had that feature?

Squeaks and rattles bother me more than others, so perhaps I should look at a gen II. Did the squeaks and rattles get addressed in newer models, such as the 2012? I wouldn't mind the rattles as long as I was able to identify and remedy them myself.

In 2010 Bluetooth was part of the Nav package so if it has the Toyota Nav system it will have Bluetooth. Nav was available in the III, IV, and V.

As far as squeaks and rattles just find a fairly rough section of paved road and drive over it at different speeds, audio system off of course, and they should show up. I can't say for sure when they started getting better because there were 2010 cars that didn't rattle and it seems to me subsequent years there have been fewer and fewer rattle complaints.

    I agree.

You can look at the brochure online at the Toyota Website, and relatively painlessly get one sent directly to your home, if you are willing to give them your address and an E-Mail.

I forgot to pick up a brochure when I bought my Prius, so I had one sent to my home after purchase just for kicks. Nice to have if you are ever going to sell private party in the future. It impresses people if you can show them the Owners Manual, Original Sticker, and the original brochure for the vehicle. Plus it does outline all the available packages and differences, nicely and clearly.
