It is always good to hear positive reviews of dealerships since we hear so many negatives.

My dealer has many of the same amenities but makes too many maintenance mistakes for me.

Not with Toyota (Yet) because I haven't even got to my first service interval. BUT with Honda my only problem was I did not want the service department washing my car. Sorry, don't trust them. They did it as a free plus.

On at least two occasions I left my vehicle for routine service with instructions to NOT wash it, only for them to bring it around at the end washed.

Not a huge big deal, and I never noticed any swirls or anything, because I did check, BUT it did upset me that the service department seemed to have so much trouble following that one simple instruction. God forbid, I ever had a series of complicated maintenance requests.

Donuts yeah, carwash mehh, but: I'd reserve judgement 'till you've thrown something trickier at them. In my experience the Service Manager can really set the tone. And the Service Writers competence level too.

Always a good practice to wash it right before taking it in for servicing. They're far less likely to volunteer to wash it and the technicians are more careful around well-maintained (namely clean) cars.

We just had the brake booster pump recall service. It went well I think, except: it looks like they put the wiper blades down on concrete or similar (I'm pretty sure it was them, believe they had to remove the whole windshield cowl to get at the booster), then dragged it a bit when picking it up, it got a bit of road rash. Bottom line, I'll take diligence by the mechanics over a carwash any day.

My local dealer has lots of service advisors (actually 9), together with a cashier, a supervisor and valet parkers. Issue is that that the cost of all these people rides on the backs of the service techs who must work at breakneck speed. Mechanical work is so-so with the techs omitting the snap-in retainers for the oil change door, torquing wheel nuts excessively, etc. I had a flat tire and I was very lucky to have it occur in the garage since I need a 24" 3/4" drive breaker bar to loosen the lug nuts. I don't carry one of these in my car. Do you?

Not even for the 2 years of free service? What can go wrong during an oil change?

Fox Lake Toyota has a one time oil charge of $99 when you buy a new Toyota, and they do all the oil changes for the first 200k and it all it's Free [you paid the $99 up front] Crazy or what? :D

The dealer we use is Earl Stewart in North Palm Beach, Florida. The offer free tire replacement for our 2012 model 4 as long as we use them for the regular factory maintenance. They also offer two years of free maintenance and their usual charge for oil changes is about $55 which includes free tire rotation and fluids checks. We had great experience with them for our 2007 Prius as well. If you want a higher grade tire, they just charge the difference in cost between their standard tire and the premium tire selected. We have found no indication that they oversell or over charge. The prius is great and Earl Stewart Toyota is a great dealership.

My service department asked for almost $100, so you have a gem there.

Put in the wrong oil brand, wrong amount, wrong weight. Scratch the car, park it where it could get door dings, ding the underside with their lift, get the steering wheel dirty, dirty door handle, just messing with stuff they don't need to touch. I asked if I could give my 2 year oil changes to someone and they said nope.

I do all my own maintenance. If there is a warranty or recall issue, then and only then will it go to my dealer.

:eek:Over the years, too many instances of over filling. It can result in engine and catalytic converter damage. Oil changes are basic maintenance. Proper specification and quantity of oil. What's so difficult about that? Inexcusable for dealer service to get it wrong, and they do.
    :)I agree.
