Does Your Start Button Light Up Green When Operational?

I recently had the circuit board cold weather warranty modification made by my dealer on a 2005 Prius...then left for a week's business trip and found the battery dead on my return. After a jump, it seemed ok and battery tests ok, but the green pilot light does not come on (on the Start button) when the car is running. Guess I could have left a light on, but not certain.

I seem to remember that the green pilot light stays lit when the Prius is turned on and engine running. The dealer tells me it does not. Can anyone out there with a Gen II Prius tell me if the green pilot light stays lit on their model?

My car turns 9 years old next month and has been possibly the most reliable car I've owned to this point.

Amber or green is when the Prius is either in accessory mode or ignition on mode. In "Ready" mode, it should not be green or yellow. You might see various colors momentarily when booting up into ready mode, but once in ready mode there should be no color showing.

    Your Prius is operating normally.

How old is your 12 volt battery? If it is original, I would suspect it needs to be changed.

There is a link in my signature that shows how to test the 12 volt. You can run that test and post all three values here if you so choose.

The little battery in the Prius does not like it when it gets run down, especially if it is a OEM battery.

Thanks, Durun....I thought I had remembered the green light on while driving. The dealer tested the battery today, and told me it seems normal; however, I have read the threads here and will perform the test and post the readings when I get a chance in the next day or two. The battery is a Toyota OEM replacement installed by the dealer 2 1/2 years ago. I was amazed that the first auxiliary battery lasted 6 years.

Run the test after the battery has set overnight. 2 1/2 years should be Ok, but once you run one down they usually aren't the same after that.

Prius batteries usually last a long time, unless they get run down. Had to swap ours out the first part of this year. I think the car set on the lot a while before we bought it. Worked ok till winter, then started acting flaky. Put a new one in and all good since then. DIY job for sure, easy to do.
