    This is what I've been trying to say. The car is going to sell at a pretty similar price to what it already has been.

    In this we'll have to agree to disagree. If offered as an option on all models, no problem. But this reminds me of arguments from another era:
    • Seat belts
    • Air bags
    • Collapsing steering columns
    • Safety glass
    • Safety ratings

    Toyota needed to make some quick and real pricing changes since plug-in sales were down over 30% year over year. That was fail territory.

    I bet you would see similar numbers any time a new product such as this comes out. There will always be some people up front that have to have it right away, hence the great sales at the beginning.

    And I repeat, they will still be selling them for about what they are currently...regardless of the price drop.

    Agreeing with Markabele on this one. Just because the MSRP was dropped doesn't mean the invoice price was dropped. If the car cost the dealership $34,000 and they are willing to sell for $35,000, they will still target $35,000, it just means that the consumer is bargaining down from $38,000 instead of $40,000.

    Off topic (but related to this statement), think of the mark ups on SUV and Full sized trucks when the factory/dealers offer $10,000 off MSRP. Yikes! What kind of insane mark up is that?

    The presumption here is no advance package owners ever lend their ride out to 'normal' peeps ... ie; the difference between the way I cautiously drive, and the rest of the Parnelli Jones drivers out there.

    So you buy the car for 2 grand cheaper, then if you have the good credit to get 0% thru Toyota then you should be able to get a conventional auto loan which can still be had for in the mid 3's. So you actually make out better getting the car cheaper then paying a few points on the note.

    Plus that's 2 grand less that you have to pay sales tax on.

    The invoice price could have dropped. Those massive discounts on trucks were from huge rebates offered by the manufacturer. As someone who once was in auto sales/finance, new cars have about a 5-7% markup between invoice and MSRP.

    Lexus bones it's customers the most, they are 10-12% or more depending on the model.

    But it still doesn't compare to the 3 or 4 hundred percent markup people pay without even thinking to get the newest smart phone or other tech gadget.

    This doesn't make much sense. You do realize there was a discount incentive as well as the 0% right?

    Also, do me a favor and tell me how much interest you will pay on a 3.5% loan compared to 0%. (hint: it's in the thousands)

    That sounds very much like the motorcycle scene response to ABS between 1990 and 2010. Now 50% of all motorcycles has it and it will probably soon be 90%.

    My ABS (and tractioncontrol* !!!!!) motorcycle will be 20 years old in a few months :ROFLMAO: Never regretted paying >1500$ for those 'never needed because I am a good driver"-features.


    *Mind you, almost a decade after my motorcycle was made, the press was fighting about who made the first productionmotorcycle with tractioncontrol: BMW or Ducati... :whistle:

    Yep, 0% is a much bigger incentive than a lot of people realize.

    I think the bigger issue is what a $2000-$4600 drop in Msrp is going to do to the used values of current models.

    You are delusional if you think they are going to keep the current incentives as high as they are when they drop the MSRP by $2k.
