Question for everyone

i have the regular Prius, a purely electric and 2 ICEs.
i drive the all the cars/SUVs the way i drive the Prius, gentle on the gas and easy on the brakes ( regeneration technique) and i have observed 2-3miles/gallon increase on my mpg.

Another factor is "where" you drive, if it's mostly flat, then it will work.
However, if it's a hill, you will waste a lot going up, but you will get them all back going down.

 

You don't get them back going downhill. About 88% is best encountered in tests.

 

I've noticed I start driving other cars much more slowly now and have been getting better mpg.

 

That's the idea, you'll get better milage and your brakes will thank you.
i have to admit, when i'm driving an ICE, i miss the B.

i have adjusted the tire pressure on all our other cars 2-3psi above the recommended.
i'm seeing an improve milage as well.

 

Hubby has an '08 Yaris, he originally hypermiled and consistently got 40mpg, mixed, in town, fwy, didn't matter. Now however the newness has worn off and he just drives, getting 38mpg.

 

Not really. My other car is a Leaf and I don't really try to hypermile unless I know I might be at the edge of the Leaf's range for my trip.

For my normal commute (~12 miles each way), I just drive "normal". I also get free L2 charging at work.

 

I've been a moderate hypermiler for years, and drive all my vehicles the same. I'm pretty much over the foaming-at-the-mouth-hypermiling, and just drive as is normal for me nowdays.

 

I've been sort of hyper-miling ever since I started driving in 196o. My father always thought that our dependence on Arab oil was a problem and I listened to him. Add to that the fact that Mom was Scottish, so I am naturally cheap, err thrifty and have always driven gently. The bottom line is I have always gotten good mileage in any vehicle I have driven. Drive gently, coast when prudent, pay attention to traffic and traffic signals, etc. and you will get good MPG's compared to others driving in a vehicle similar the one you are in. This of course assumes you pay attention to the vehicles needs such as proper tire pressure, tune ups, etc.

 

I do drive all our cars trying to improve mpg. however it is difficult to tell if I am gaining much, because none of them have mpg readouts and I only drive them occasionally. we do own a hycam and I can get really good mpg in town with it. The mpg on my prius c when the temp is warm comes so easy. one tank I got over 72 mpg calc. and I could have gotten better if I haden't driven a bunch of short trips under 3 miles. those trips are difficult to get over 50 mpg. and that is with tires at max sidewall and working the mileage as best as I know how.

 

I have a super car and a NASCARized pickup besides my prissy and they are all driven the same way; get the maximum benefit going a to b.I don't hypermile any though I have competed in contests with any of them. The prissy is the best gofer car because it gets double or triple the mpg of the others and because I'm a cheapskate I drive it at least 75% of my driving. Besides with just a little work its actually fun to drive..
