Hello all. I have searched for quite awhile and cannot find any information regarding this part. One of the rear hatch shocks cracked and given the rust it appears that it occurred awhile back.

I am thinking of replacing both lift shocks. I saw some aftermarket ones on eBay. Does anyone have any experience with this and directions and/or recommendations on product purchase ? Thanks.

I bought some mighty lifts off of amazon to replace old supports on my odyssey. They work really well, although my wife finds it much harder to close the hatch. Hope that helps

here's a thread about them shocks

    Aftermarket Hatch Struts | PriusChat

i did a brief Autozone search and got a "trunk lift support" part for $27.99

there was also a thread about using a bit shorter lift so that the spoiler won't hit the garage hinch and get damage...couldn't find that thread :(

I haven't replaced them on my Prius, but on a previous car it was a simple job.

Just remember that the hatch without the lifts is *very* heavy, and make sure it's well supported before removing the old ones.

I have had great luck with my Element from RockAuto Parts Catalog They unclip with a flat blade screwdriver. Be careful to support the lift back when you unclip 1 piston, it can fall on you with only 1 holding up the gate.
