last week I purchased a optima yellow top battery for my 2002 Prius now that I know the Prius is no longer financially able to operate I purchased a 2008 Prius. I started a thread in the generation 2 forum to see if I could just take the Optima battery out of the 2002 and put it in the 2008.

Patrick informed need that in order for it to work I would have to have the battery situated to wear the post were very close to the fender well and if I was in an accident it could result in catastrophic circumstances so my question is what do I do with the Optima battery that I just purchased less than 10 days ago for the 2002 Prius?

So Optima batteries do not have a transferable warranty? Too bad, I'm due for a replacement on my original 12v battery ('02 with 255k). :(

You return it to the seller for warranty work.

For 90% of owners, not having to mail back a hazmat package would be a good thing. Allowing the seller to do warranty claims make a lot of sense for a car battery, at least most of the time.

This is one of the other times.
