    Hi friends !
I am looking at this prius to buy, and going to see it soon.
The guy is the second owner, and claims that he has all records since the car was new. It's a clean title.

I do not have a lot of experience with the prius gen 2, is $6,200 a good price for a 2004 with no options at all, and 107,000miles, second owner, silver color, gray interior ?
    What to check?

We have gen 1 prius and it is wonderful.
    Thanks !

Sounds like a good price. Be sure to get a Prius mechanic to check it out first.

    Thanks!
I am located in the bay area, San Francisco, silicon valley, whatever you want to call it.

Do you think it's a good purchase? how reliable are those cars after 10 years and 110000 miles? I would like to take it to a long 1800 mile road trip without thinking about whether I will get stuck or not.

    Thanks!

I'd go for a new Versa with no options for $11,990. The 2014s are out so you might be able to find a 2013 and get a new car for even less.

You're already living with a 2002 Prius. I'd say that a 2004 Prius is going to be more reliable than a 2002 Prius. There are many improvements in the 2004 over the older version. The 2004 battery lasts longer. The 2004 gets better mileage. The 2004 feels more powerful. The steering gear is not a problem in the 2004, while it can be an expensive item in the 2002.

A new car would obviously be a safer bet than a 9 year old one. But given the choice between a 2002 Prius and a 2004 Prius, the 2004 is an upgrade. More than just what a 2004 version of your 2002 would represent. On the other hand, you know the condition of your 2002, while the 2004 could have all sorts of expensive problems lurking.

percentage wise, they are very reliable. but that is not a guarantee of an incident free trip. you always have to be prepared for the worst, and hope for the best! (personally, i prefer a newer vehicle when travelling, but each to his own.)

I appreciate your answers friends, unfortunately, the guy called me right before I left home and gave him a high offer, so I wasn't even able to go and see it.
I will try to look for the same model, and use your answers as a reference .
    Thanks !
