Just curious, why did you fill up when you still have 1/2 tank of gas? I normally wait til it gets lower because each gallon of gas weighs about 7 lbs. If my tank is less full, there's less weight to carry around.

    Hi all,
First time posting here. I got a 2010 Prius about 3 months ago. In Australia it is an I-Tech model (or 5 as you guys call them).
I did have a 1999 Ford Fairlane V8 that used 14.7mpg, from a 16 gallon tank. Google AU Ford Fairlane 1999.
Cost over $400 a month just in fuel. Now i fill up 3-4 weeks and costs just $60.
    These Prii are amazing.

It's a bad habit but I was in another town and it was the cheapest number we have seen in a long long time

I agree, not having to fill your gas tank every few days does seem weird. I love the feeling of saving dolla bills. My Honda Odyssey is a gas guzzler, which I hardly drive anymore.

And in my case with a PiP, I "top off" at work and home. :D

the title of your thread gave me the impression that you dont have to buy gas any more then I find out you are paying $119 a month??? WOW!

Right now my gas car is in the shop ($700 project car) getting worked on. An estimated $1500-1800 and 2-3 weeks later, it should be ready to roll. I hope to have a gas bill well under $50 a month.

as far as gas incentives? I tried the Safeway gas incentives but found out the points I acquired for the gas discounts expire after 30 days and realized I dont get gas that often so it never worked for me...

I use a credit card that kicks me back cash on gas purchases and pay it off every month.
