I'm curious as to what the drivers were behind the spoofing on/off set points that were chosen. Is there much flexibility in regard to on the fly or periodic adjustment? I saw the reference to an LCD controlled version in post #167. Any links to it/additional information on it? Is it a modular system, whereby the switched version for the Gen III could accept the upgrade to the LCD version, utilizing the core components with the original Gen III version?

The on/off setpoints were determined form the ICE warmup stages and later revised based on obervations.
The current issue has the setpoints hard coded at compile time.
The LCD version (which is not in production) has the ability to change the setpoints on the fly using the 3digit LCD display and a number of pushbuttons.
It displays the 'true' temperature of the ICE and the configuration requires that ECT Sensor lead be cut and the 2 wires run to the Spoofer.
The cards are different using a different low power MCU to drive the LCD segments and different code to modify the setpoints stored in flash .

Thanks for the feedback - I was afriad it wasn't a simple plug and play or manipulation of the existing equipment.

BTW: Not that it didn't work well before, but the chip works wonders with our new Plug-In. Hopefully more folks here will take an interest, as it's a great mod for any Prius owner.

I put a electric water heater thermostat in searies with the spoof pot and it does about the same thing. I ty raped it to the top of the ice under the plastic cover. It opens the hack when the ice gets to a preset temp. Cost 0
I think an NC thermostat I am using instead of a switch does the same thing lowteck style. Cost me nothing and had the hack done in less than 60 min. Think simple, Larry

We previously had it installed in the GenIII pictured in my avatar and it worked quite well. Adding it to the plug in shows its true value. Even on cooler mornings where I'm not able to keep the car from spinning up the ICE, it shuts off much sooner than it would and remains off until I run out of juice in the pack, or manually switch over to HV mode for highway travel. Gone are the days of a full warm up when I could otherwise be coasting along on electricity only.

Very happy with this mod, when heating the cabin it spoofs enough to keep the ecu satisfied and my work drive has enough up hills to satisfy the heater so when I do the down hill parts the engine is off just like summer commutes. The mod is so good I didn't wait to do my wife's car. Thanks ccdisce!

ccdisce: I expect the response will be a no, but the Prius version works so well, I have to ask. Is there any chance that one of these units could be adapted for use on Pathfinder Hybrid? As that platform is largely a 'mild hybrid' the ability to convince the engine to go to sleep sooner and more often would be a huge plus. I'm more than willing to play guinea pig!

It should be possible to get the ECT Spoofer to work with any recent ICE as they seem to use the resistor/thermistor themperature sense configuration.
The earlier resistor/thermistor designs such as thet used on my Mustang employ a higher value resistor than the 2.4k used on my Prius.
If you have a wiring diagram you should be able to locate the wires to tap into for +5V Power and the ECT Sensor lead.
The ECT Spoofer should be located as close as you can get it to the ECU.
MPG gains will be hard to predict.

If you want to take this further you may want to PM me.
