I'm posting this on behalf of a customer of Boulder Hybrids. He had a 10kwh plug in conversion installed in his 07 Prius. The car got totaled because of a front end accident. We pulled out the PHEV equipment which was undamaged.

His new Prius is a Gen3 and this system won't work in Gen3.

Most drivers will see 90-100mpg average with this system, depending on your driving patterns.

    Compatible with 2004-2009 Prius Only!
10kwh battery pack with GBS cells, pre-wired
Elithion Pro BMS upgraded to support GUI software
    Elcon Charger, bumper plug inlet
control software (based on prior generation of Plug In Supply "contractor" method)
upgraded rear struts (heavier coil springs to handle the extra weight of battery pack)
    hardware, cables etc.

$5300. Located in Boulder CO. Can ship anywhere, shipping cost additional.
Pmail or Call Paul at 303-325-7411 if you have any other questions.

    Hi Paul,

How does this compare to your current 10KWh kit you sell and install, which based on the Orion BMS?

    Thanks,
    Donat

Our current product (using OrionBMS) REPLACES the Prius Hybrid battery and has much tighter integration with the Prius engine control. New product allows all EV well over 60 MPH with "engine on standby" feature...i.e. you punch the gas pedal and engine fires right up. The BMS and entire battery pack can be monitored with Torque on an Android device. Our current product is great if you have a high mileage Gen2 with a tired Hybrid battery since it gets replaced.

The older Plug In Supply software used contactors (giant relays) to piggyback the Lithium battery onto the factory battery based on an algorithm. You could run all EV, but if you forced the car into EV the gas engine stayed off until you rebooted the car....not the safest way to drive a Prius. and top speed in EV mode was 52mph....and you needed a healthy Hybrid battery to use it.

The OrionBMS is supported by a responsive engineering company that adds features and fixes bugs as needed.

The Plug In Supply software has a few quirks but still works ok, just not nearly as nice as OrionBMS system. PIS software we have hasn't been changed for over 3 years and PIS refused to support or upgrade the units we purchased from them.

Thanks the clarification. Another thought, based on the advantage of the Orion BMS over PIS, would it be cost effective and advantageous to upgrade this used kit with the Orion BMS?

Thinking along theline of using a balanced battery pack which benefit of the upgrade to reach safer highway speed. Of course, it does't cost much less than a new kit, then this would be a moot point.

As of today (11/27/13) the system is still available. We've had a few people interested, but nobody has given a deposit. There are approx 500 cycles on the pack. The batteries are from early 2012.
