PIP Mileage deterioration

My average has never exceeded 12.5. On a cold day in SJ, it's been going down to 11.7/8
I use a 240V charger if that matters

 

Mines down to 9.3 from a high of 12.3 in N Nj

 

Stop the Madness ! Mine just hit a low of 10.1

not liking this one bit - it'd be nice if the upside was less time to fully charge but of course that's not the case
This summer I was getting 2.2 miles / 10 min charge - now at 1.5 at Chargepoint

We're getting a warm-up from 20's to mid 40's this weekend so I'm interested to see some recovery

 

it doesn't matter at all. it's strictly the temperature. your average is simply based on the type of driving you do.

 

Down to Starting EV est. 10.8 today.

 

i'm at 11.9 since the 7 1/2 degrees the other morning. and even though it moderated to 32 yesterday, i still only got 12 miles out of her.

Back in March, when my PiP turned 1 year old, I had decided that I would stop obsessing over what my EV range was. This also meant not obsessing over whether I was in the proper HV or EV mode for the terrain. I just drove the thing. Didn't matter if I was doing 70mph on the freeway in EV mode or 25 mph in HV mode. I would start out my commute in EV mode and just let it run out. My commute to work involves a number of steep hills to traverse in order to get to the highway. Going up those hills would really suck the electricity out of the battery, but I was getting pretty good gas mileage (for me, anyways). As a result, my estimated EV range went from 10.7 down to a low of about 9.1 miles. Average was 9.3 miles.

Then about 2 or 3 months ago I decided to start playing with the EV/HV button again. I would only use it on relatively flat terrain and not above 45 or 50 mph. My EV estimate has slowly been going back up. Right now it's 11.5 miles, and that is despite the recent cold snap we had (which really affected the gas mileage and not the EV range).

At some point I need to input in all the gas receipts and see if my overall gas mileage has been affected with this little experiment. Because at the end the day (tank?) what is most important to me is not my estimated EV range, but the actual gas mileage I get since that's my primary fuel. I would love to charge at work, but the chargers are $1 an hour, and at that price, it's just cheaper to burn gas. They would have to cut the price in at least half to start making it worth it to use the chargers.

 

3 buscks a charge? that's crazy!

 

Actually it $1.50. They're Level 2 chargers, so 1.5 hours to fully charge the PiP. Still way too pricey.

 

3.5 bucks (about) a gallon of gas, that is crazy!
The fact PIP is less successful in Europe ($8 per gallon most places) than in the US is really crazy!!

 

That is crazy. Is it price, conservatism, stupidity ? The Germans probably have more solar panels than any other country, because of their policy's. A mix of panels and Pip is perfect. = PPP.

 

.9. to. .6 is not much. Interestingly, not only does the estimate come down with the temperature, but the range also comes down with the temperature. once complete Global warming occurs, the problem will disappear, I can't wait. Petition for more Global warming!

 

If those F-350's, Chevy Silverado's and Dodge Ram's keep selling like hotcakes, it'll happen sooner than you think

Has nothing to do with age bracket. Everyone is simply different with different needs. Yes, a lot of them have no need for a large truck, but a lot do. As a previous owner of a midsize truck, I really miss it at times. Very useful in a lot of situations and I liked being the guy that everyone would call when they needed something moved.

 

. Great, you will not mind helping me move then. Ofcourse I understand that everyone has different needs, desires. etc. I just think everyone should have a HV or BEV. Iam just a bit fanatical on the subject.

 

I was going to have him give me his number so I could have him help me, but then I noticed he does not have the truck any more! I suppose he could help lift things tho!
