As subject line suggests, can't figure out how to separate the wiper blade/insert unit from the arm.

    Any ideas? TIA

Well, I have a new blade, and it looks pretty normal, but I sure can't figure it out either. I've tried prying on all the little things under the arm, but I'll keep on it and advise when I am successful, Might have to break it to see how it fits!

If it's similar to regular Prius, you grip the arm, then grip the wiper assembly, then rotate the wiper assembly gradually out 'till it resembles a letter T. Somewhere along that rotation you'll hear a click. Then it just pulls out of a slot. It's kind of a ball joint, you just snap out of.

Thanks, and correct, except first you must pull up/off the "elbow" that covers the arm / drive pinion. It's a snap, once that elbow is removed, and the insert cannot be rotated or removed without doing so.

Thanks, it is almost too simple. After lifting the clip off to allow the blade to pull away from the glass....it looks as if when you try to pull the blade toward you from the back, it wants to stop. Just keep pulling lightly and it pops right off! Too easy!

But does it say that anywhere in the owner's manual? Nooooooooo!

Anyone has a video on how to do this? The narrative is fine but a vid tutorial is FTW.

Although this is not a Prius, I think it will show the like method of removal...

OMG. Watching the video was all we needed! We'd been struggling for 15 mins, with screwdriver, trying to figure this out! And yes, why isn't that in the owner's manual?? THANK YOU!

^ Yup. It's in the Repair Manual, that tome that typically only Toyota mechanics are privy to. Shame on Toyota!

An EXCELLENT! video! 2017 Prius v Four. Couldn't figure it out either but the trick with the wiper arm pivot cover was the five star answer. Now that I know how it works I'm going to order a much needed set for my RAV4! THANK YOU CLUBGUY!

PSA: roll up a blanket and position it under the wiper blades BEFORE starting wiper blade removal.

Again, the above, plus the a detailed description of how to replace wiper blade inserts, should have been included in the Owner's Manual. Theoretically, to learn how to do this, you would have to take out a subscription, at Toyota Technical Information System website... :cautious:

Changing the rubber inserts is cheaper by far and you don't waste the original aero blade or worse yet the oem arm and blade.

Toyota Prius v wiper rubber insert part numbers:

    Front
    85214-47061
    85214-47051

    Rear
    85214-12310
