Denim Seat Covers from Precise Seat Covers ?

    These guys have an ebay store at preciseseatcovers.com Don't know much about them but they have a good track record and may be one of the last businesses that actually makes something in North America.

    Anybody here tried them? Anybody know if denim is a good seat cover material? My last seat covers were Cordura and they didn't hold up. The new seats will be leather so it is a shame to cover them, but I have to or they will be destroyed. Akio Toyoda would cry.

    The other cover I am looking at is the Duluth Trading Fire Hose Bucket Seat Apron (with a tip of the hat to Calvin Perry) which is kind of ugly but looks like it might hold up well.

    You are considering covering leather seats with denim covers?

    Even if there is a wear issue, sometimes I think you just have to enjoy something...for as long as it lasts. What's the point of having leather seats if only to cover them in cloth?

    My Grandparents used to order a vehicle from the factory, equipped exactly as they wanted it. They would get it exactly as it was delivered.
    This was 1970's early 80's and they would get a vehicle with the factory plastic sheeting over the side panels of the doors. And they would NOT remove it.

    Sure The Plastic protected the side panels. BUT...for as long as they owned the vehicles...their side panels were covered in plastic. Even as a little kid, I just wanted to rip the ugly plastic off.

    Sometimes, I'm for just enjoying something...and dealing with the consequences If/When the wear becomes unacceptable.

    Are you looking at seat covers because you have children or dogs? If that's the case, I'm not sure any material is going to be durable enough.

    Denim on leather is a bad idea. The dye used in denim is attracted into leather by the oils and chemicals used to tan and color the leather. I have seen this many times when people have sat on leather seats in denims, both in cars and within the house.

    Why not get clazzio then? Looks better than anything out there and you'll at least preserve the original when it comes to selling.

    If you get the cover in the OP, you might top cycledrum's looser than a wizard's sleeve seat cover.

    Well in that case...the simplest solution is to put the Children up for adoption and call the humane society.

    Enjoy the leather seats.

    Tried that last time. Had a terrible mixup, dogs went to foster care, kids went to the pound, both agencies sent me legal letters that I couldn't understand except the parts where they said "Severe Civil Penalties", had to use that car to bring them all back, kids fed the dogs peanut butter sandwiches and they threw up all over the back. Had a heck of a time deciding which ones to beat first. You can still smell it sometimes on warm days.<P>​

    Also, one of the kids smuggled home an anteater looking kind of thing, very unfriendly, long claws, pokes holes in everything, spent years living in the springs of the couch and growling any time anybody went to sit on the couch, very distracting when you're trying to watch the game and something with lots of two inch long claws is rumbling at you from behind the cushions somewhere.<P>​

    Nope, this time I'm just going to bite the bullet and get seat covers. :rolleyes:​

    People keep saying "Clazzio". Went to the Clazzio site, found that they'll sell a set of quilted seat covers for $480. Anyone know what the quilting material is or how well it holds up?

    I've taken the Masque cover off at this point: It's a one piece and don't like the baggyness happening at the tuck between seat cushion / back.

    I've heard Clazzios, Wet Okoles and such have something like 1/2" foam in the backing, but seems to me that would reduce the cushion seating area (seatback pushes driver 1/2" foward on cushion) not something I'm looking for with these 35" legs.

    Is it possible that the problem is in the blue dye, not the fabric?
