Are you aware that you're in the forum for the Prius wagon? It most certainly has a very big knob.

Yes I am but I clearly identified my model and I was attempting to provide some relevant info to the original post at the beginning. I'll leave now. Bye.

How certain are you that you have a v, (station wagon)? Your avatar is not of a v, nor is your description

Having a new Prius v and coming from a Chevy SUV, I find the heat in the Prius v to be a little less powerful than the Chevy and the cooling about the same. Was surprised to find rear a/c vents under the front seats, which I discovered when I dropped something and it rolled right in the vent. That's when I realized this is probably not a good design choice. The Chevy rear a/c was in the center console, up off the floor.

Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone actually use that button for the cabin filter? Is this feature because the Japanese culture is so obsessed with germs or does it actually do something that matters? I pushed it one time to see it light up and never used it again.

Its a full recirc mode, different from the standard recirc mode which is 80%. It can only be left on for a short period due to federal regs requiring fresh air. It does make a nice boost for max cooling, etc.

I can see crop dusting and large fires about 5 minutes before I am in them, I push the button about one minute before and it automatically shuts off. So I use it about 25 times a year.

You want to have already pressed it (stock photo)

Again, thanks for everyone's info, I'm now a proud owner of a 2014 Prius v level 5. Classic metallic silver exterior and dark gray leather interior. Got it last night and I'm still trying to figure out all the bells and whistles. Neat car. Ernie

You drive a Prius because of its green credentials. Don't go and stuff it full of unnecessary gizmos, such a shame..

There are lots of reasons to buy a Prius, we do not all fit in one box.

Well they were just trying to make sure you know which model you have, that's all.

Based on your photo, you have a Prius Five (regular hatchback, top trim level). The vehicle in question in this thread is a Prius v (the letter vee).

That's the rear seat heater ducts (when the climate control is set to the FOOT mode). It's different from the A/C vents that your Chevy had which is activated when the climate control is in FACE mode. The Prius, unfortunately, doesn't have rear A/C vents (something I missed from the Camry XLE).

I don't use it often. It use it if the stench in the cabin is really bad and I want to get rid of it fast. The recirc is set to 100% closed (as opposed to 80% in regular recirculation mode) and the fan speed is bumped up and the MODE is changed to FACE. It has a 3 minute timer if you forget to switch out of the cabin filter mode.
