Just yesterday I had to replace my old Optima! It just gave out....about 5 years use!
About a hour or so of light work, new battery in, Good to Go!
The old Optima was out of warranty! Got a new one. I am glad I saved the OEM battery posts and ground wire.
The new Optima was the new Prius version.! Smaller post sizes!
With a new battery all those stupid little quirky things have ceased to trouble me or the car, which now runs fine!!!

Probably can't do it on Tuesday, I have to start work before dawn and I will probably have to chain-up, which means, I will be driving the Camry. I'll see what I can do, if a day or so in the future still works for you

Actually, his sister is in the hospital (or is it "in hospital" -- watching too much Downton Abbey), so he took off to be with his family.

Irregardless, the Prius and he are seldom seen together. As I have explained in past notes, he borrowed the Prius when it was two weeks "new" to me back in 2008 and I was out-of-town -- and I had told him NOT TO drive it.

He ran it into a tree and shattered the front driver's headlight and fender at a cost of $900+. So, he stays away from it, mostly, although in the past couple of months, we have grudgingly, sort of, mellowed on this a bit.

Wow, you mean you can get hospitalized from watching too much Downton Abbey. That must be a hell of a show. ;)

Yeah it's good that you learned to use the voltmeter. If you post the type or model number of that "digital HomeCheapo job" I can give you more advice as to it's operation. The main thing to know is what ranges does it have (to tell you which ones you can use safely and which ones require caution), and how many physical jacks (plugs) does it have. For example some very cheap meters may just have two plugs (or even hard wired leads), some may have three and some may have four. So post up the model number or a pic if you can.

Whatever works for you is fine with me.

I am trying to establish a baseline using the same type of equipment for reference purposes.

As long as the Prius doesn't set for more than a couple of days unless you turn the SKS off the numbers you post should give me a good basis for comparison.

If it doesn't happen, don't worry about it.

Thanks for the reply and any additional info.

I'll try to do it tonight....some friends are coming over and if I am sober after they leave, I want to disable the backup beeper anyway....Right now, I just want to relax.....worked in the mud all day and while temps were mild (34-44F), I did take a great fall and tweaked my back a bit.

What, you don't watch Downton -- even though you are downunder, are you not still a loyal subject of the Crown?

BTW: Just me being nosy, but miss your old avatar....not to say that I shouldn't update mine. I look a little different than I did when mine was snapped some 7 years ago.

Keep that up and you will have to change your nym to Humpty Dumpty. Be careful, our bodies don't last forever. (Showing my age again...)

Did the beep turnoff and the MFD thing. Numbers:

    Vehicle signal check: 12.5

    Load: 12.3

    Charging: 14.3

Car had not been driven for about 18 hours. Temp was a balmy 44F at 10 p.m. PST.

That looks pretty good CP2. (y)

LOL we do get a lot of Brit TV over here. I've got to admit that I never got into the ol' Downton Abbey though. :)

Ar the old one of my German Shepard dressed in reindeer antlers, that was from Christmas about 5 or 6 years ago. I've still got that dog but he's getting fairly old now. He watches more TV than me these days. Serious, he knows every show that has a dog of a cat in it and runs it to watch if he hears them on.

My current hound is half black lab and half GSD. Totally ignores TV. Old dog was a rottweiler and would sit fascinated whenever pigs of any sort were on the screen. Ignored "kitty cats, but was also fascinated by nature shows with any "big cats," course dog was 125 pounds itself -- when I was younger, I liked my personal protection dog(y)

Thank you! Sounds about right for the rest time and the ambient temp.

Sounds like everything is in order.

Top it off about once a month with the charger and the battery should last a long time. Charge with AGM setting @ 4 amps. Use the jump post up front to hook the charger to. Works well. Remember the red (positive) goes on the jump post and the black (negative) goes to the body frame. Most clamp on the strut nut behind the fuse panel. Works very well.

    You done good Kris!
