Can anybody direct me to a write up on replacing the brake switch? I think I can get that task done. Then we'll have a clearer picture of what is needed when the car starts.

Oh I just realized there is no power steering either.....No ICE, no power steering.

The power steering should work in ignition on mode (two pushes of the start button) as it is electric, not engine driven. The diagram shows the supply to it is there in "on" or "start".

Now I'm starting to suspect the 12V battery being weak.

I just looked into the 12v myself, the negative lead is corroded. Very strange. It is measuring 12.3 volts right now. I'll hook it up to my charger for the next few hours and see.

12.3 is fine but if there is high resistance (due to corrosion), the 12.3V will never get to where it needs to go.

Must admit I have not tried this, but looking at the circuit again it may need some input via the data lines from another ECU. See below.

Yeah, who knows what it takes to get the pwr strg motor running but, JC could go to IG ON on his good 06 or 08 and see what that one does for pwr strg.

I'm trying to find a brake switch on Amazon (I normally buy OEM) but they only have switches for w/o cruise control. would that matter?

This car seems to either a package 3 or 4 with leather and fog lights.

If the car has cruise, you have to get one with cruise but honestly, the switch likely just needs adjustment. They don't go bad often.

If you have a multimeter, you can test it or you can manually activate it and see if the car starts. You'll have to hold both switches in (there are two contacts)

I looked under the brake pedal and the switch looks to be operating properly. Engaging and Disengaging. I would suspect it's bad.

Both sets of contacts? We already know one set does work (because it shifts)

I wasn't aware there are 2 contacts. I looked at the contact where the brake pedal comes back and rests on.

Thats the diff between w/ and w/o cruise. w/o cruise will only have one set of contacts.

I think it does need a 2 pole switch. It is difficult to tell from the circuit diagram as it covers 5 pages and operates a number of ECU's, but there is one normally closed set of contacts and one normally open. The normally open has a blue and black wire going to it's terminals. connecting these together and removing the connector to the other set of terminals (green and orange) should give the same result as operating the pedal.
