    Hello,

I'm a recent convert to the ways of the Prius. Picked up a used 2008 base with package # 6, metallic gray. It had less than 31k miles on it, had impeccable service records and just one previous record. I just wanted to drop a note and thank this site in general. It was/is very informative, and was instrumental in helping me decide on a Prius. I'm still getting used to the peculiarities of this car, but so far (apart from an aching back from the driver's seat) it has been a great experience. I look forward to interacting with many of you, and to continue my Prius education.

Many thanks, Jimbo. I was enjoying it so much this morning, I lingered in the car for a while when I pulled up into work. Well, that tells me I enjoy the car more than going into work, which may not be saying much.

Start thinking of work as an excuse to drive the car. I am doing my longest regular commute today, 92 miles each way.

Wow, that's quite the voyage. Good thing you're undertaking it in one fine vehicle.

Thanks, Cary. I sure hope so. I misspoke, the mileage was actually under 32k (31,2xx), but still pretty low for its age. Apart from some minor internal/external scratches, it was in pretty good cosmetic shape. I just hope it didn't sit too long, as I read somewhere on here that that would be bad for the battery.

One of my clients (Region One Mental Health, I swear THEY are MY client) has 12 locations, from 44 to 92 miles away in different directions. I connect them all so they see each other as local devices on their network.

I guess that's fortunate, since a commute like that might drive some people insane. Sounds like you're in IT? That's cool. I can barely connect to my home wifi. I blame the gremlins that run time warner cable.

Well, you got a 10 year warranty on the battery, so you should be safe. As far as your 12V battery, it is at the age where maybe you should replace it anyway. The cost around 200 bucks.

Also, you may want to join fuelly.com and track your mileage. It is fun!

Wow, that's a lot for a battery. I think I saw in the service records that the previous owner replaced it sometime in the fall of 2013. But thanks for the tip -- I hope you can let me know if there should anything else I need to look at.

I'll look into that. Although I may already be spending too much time online as it is.

What part of LA are you from. our kids are in San Bernardino. Tip: Pump your tires up to 42 front and 40 rear. Consider investing in a ScanGuageII. $50 off at advanceautoparts.com . code WD2 good until 1/11/14.

I'm from the San Fernando Valley area. The Prius was probably designed for the awful SFV traffic, so I seem to be in the right place.

I looked up the ScanGauge. I think a friend of mine had that in his car. He kept looking at it has he drove, and barely avoided accidents. I shall see if I can use it more responsibly than my friend. Thanks again.

there is an easy mount in the prius that is not dangerous to use.
