60 MPG in an Accord Non-hybrid (Wayne Gerdes)

    To my knowledge, his ignition and starter motor are original.

    He mentioned having to replace the starter in a post once in passing.

    I wonder what he could do with a VCM Accord that can switch from 6 to 3 cylinder mode? Wayne might go as high as 80mpg.

    Unless there was a way to hack it so you could go 3 cylinder on demand, he would get worse. For accelerations, where most gas is burned, the engine will be pumping all six cylinders, and for the times when the VCM kicks in for mpst of us, he'll have the engine turned off.
