    Hello,

    I have two issues:

A little background... I have a 2009 Touring with just over 100K on it. I recently purchased it back at the end of August and have not had any issues until now.

    1. The past few weeks I've noticed a slight vibration in the front end that started getting significantly worse over the days. My first thought was the wheel hubs had gone bad so I changed out both of them and yes, there was some "play" in the old ones.

Unfortunately, the vibration still existed and when speeds exceed 60 MPH, it's like the car is going to shake apart. I got an alignment last night and it is still vibrating like it did before. Could this just be the tires or something far more sinister like the axle? It shakes violently at highway speeds.

    2. After changing out the driver side wheel hub, the ABS, VSC light came on and stays on. I figured this had to do with the sensor and haven't had a chance to get back under the car to look at it. The problem is now the brake light comes on while driving and the speedometer goes to zero. I have no idea how fast I'm going when this happens so I have to judge my speed by others. When I'm able to come to a stop, the light goes off and it's fine again until I get up around 60 MPH.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm losing my mind trying to fix this myself and have already put over $300 into it.

It is certainly possible that your front tires need to be balanced or replaced.

Regarding the ABS/VSC lights, try resetting the skid control ECU by using a jumper on pins 4 and 13 of the OBD-II connector, do a search about this procedure.

OK thanks, I'll get two front tires tonight and post back with the results tomorrow.

Well, while you are at it, if the rear tires are significantly worn then you should buy a set of four; or if you are keeping the best two existing tires on the car, make sure those are balanced.

OK, so instead of buying tires, a friend of mine contacted me to bring it to his garage. I wasn't aware that he worked on cars and "flipped" them in his spare time. He took a look at my tires and said they were old but still good. No warping or anything like that. He pulled the passenger side tire and there was some "play" in the brand new wheel hub that I put on. So I'm purchasing a Moog wheel hub today and will have that installed early next week and take that one back to Auto Zone for a refund.

With the ABS sensors, that turns out to be my own fault by trying to play "at home mechanic" instead of taking it to someone. When I tightened down the nut on the drive train, I ended up smashing the sensor with the metal shield that protects the drive train gears from dirt and such. So, needless to say, I will be also purchasing two new ABS sensors and will have them installed early next week too. Hopefully that completely fixes my issues.
