I was thinking along that line also. But I think he might have meant "when repacing a windshield with insurance, would insur. pay the 'extra' for a heated winshield."

It's a nice feature, but consider that it is really for heating under the stowed wipers. There are heating elements (much like a rear window defogger) in that lower portion of the windshield glass. I don't know how effective it would be as a replacement for the defroster.

 

interesting, i wonder if any heat makes it further north? in the back of most vehicles, it seems only the wired area clears iirc.

 

Ford offered fully heated windshields for a few years in the Taurus/Sable but it didn't seem to catch on.
