    If you buy one with the "Cold Spec" package, it has a heated windshield. I looked one up for a glass company last week. It would have been nice if Toyota had included this technology on the PiP, since it would eliminate running the blower fan just to defog the windshield when it's raining!

    They already give you heated side mirrors and rear window.

    I was thinking along that line also. But I think he might have meant "when repacing a windshield with insurance, would insur. pay the 'extra' for a heated winshield." :)

    i just got my shield replaced about a week ago covered by insurance (no deductible) $1200 for toyota part original

    It's a nice feature, but consider that it is really for heating under the stowed wipers. There are heating elements (much like a rear window defogger) in that lower portion of the windshield glass. I don't know how effective it would be as a replacement for the defroster.

    interesting, i wonder if any heat makes it further north? in the back of most vehicles, it seems only the wired area clears iirc.

    Ford offered fully heated windshields for a few years in the Taurus/Sable but it didn't seem to catch on.
