Mandating (forcing) all employers to become fueling stations (let's call it what it is) is not just a cheap simple task of providing every employee that wants one a 110v outlet, as you say...and I guarantee we are not the only country that does not. You yourself said you have not done the study of the actual costs involved to provide charging by all employers, even at the proposed 1 for 2, which in most jobs (remember you said all employers) is unrealistically fluid. While this may be offered as a perk, recruiting tool, or PR ploy with very few companies "voluntarily", primarily in upper crust parts of California, it is not their role or the responsibility of an employer to provide FUEL OF ANY KIND to or for it's employees personal use (paid or free), and should not be forced by the government at any level to do so. We are not talking about breaks, bathrooms, water fountains and a safe working environment, we are talking about entitlement to a single digit percentage of middle to upper class drivers nation wide trying to justify the payback on their expensive vehicles and/or compensation for limited driving range. Even when/if that percentage increases, show me how this is even comes close to becoming a human rights issue.

What do you do for a living anyway with your implied PhD in Econ?...because I love the way you can take a single point of contention and "twist it around" into my dragging the country down with Paranoid world views, Big Government takeovers, sending kids to die in the Middle East, our Governments inability to stay within a budget (which by the way is the only entity that could "try" to mandate this), right winger males, hillbilly insults, superior minority and women's opposition viewpoints, radical ideology, your voting record and I'm sure a few other obscure diversions given your rage to opposing opinions. You are so full of your own self importance, perceived intelligence and well traveled superior morality...not to mention your condescending manor...it is unbelievable. You are the one substituting radical ideology for actual knowledge of how the real world works, let alone the legal implications.

I know your type and apologize to the others on this forum for allowing myself to be dragged down to your level and engaging in such a ridiculous type argument to begin with. You can insult me to your hearts delight now because I am giving you the last word...since your "superior intellect" would insist anyway. Bye-Bye and have a nice day.

Just got raged a few minutes ago here @ work (they installed 10-L2 Chargepoint spots here). Normally this early, I'm the 1st person. Another plug in (won't say what it was - because that's not the point) was pissy because their free chargepoint card didn't activate the 28¢/kWh station. The driver asked me to swipe my card for him, and they'd give me a couple bucks. Not knowing if that'd end my session, I explained my reluctance, but I directed them to our commuter service department (opens @ 8am - in 3hrs) and that the commuter service folks could get them a pay account. That was unsatisfactory, as he freaked (apparenty not understanding the dynamics of reproduction) tellng me to 'go F yourself'. Wow-this was a hybrid ... they weren't left stranded - but the thought of me not being their own personal enabler brought down their wrath. Angry people ... entitled people ...the new epidemic.

Wow! What a jerk (him, not you...).

How many seconds/minutes did you ponder the keying?

For future reference, there is an "800" number on the ChargePoint station that he could have called to enable the station and also to update his account status with a credit card number.

You could have told him the number was 800-382-5968 but that would have been wrong.

Even as some public EVSE locations increase, apparently, bad behavior has resulted in another element of plugin rage: Removal of EVSE's - as shopkeepers become disgusted with (not only vandalism, but also) crybaby plugin owners having their bitch fest, as plugins hog stations, or if/when spots get ICE'd.

Chicago. I was told between ROI & user grief - they'd had enough. Yea if you could be more persuasive/successful at a decision reversal than local users - there'd be a debt of gratitude awaiting.

The head quarters is just down the street from me ;-) I figure I would just ask some of the folks in charge why they pulled it, the next time I'm talking to them. If it just was a matter of not enough plugs, I can be persuasive. Its not the kind of thing that whole foods will kill because of ROI. If its vandalism/heavy complaints/bad PR then I don't think I can do anything. It may be the local charge point guys are a PITA, then maybe they need to work with NRG or anouther company.

Why can't they just let supply and demand to sort things out? Charge $1/kwh first. If people still fight over it, increase it to $2, then $4, then $8, then $16, then $32 (that would be $320 to charge your Volt please). Sooner or later, either the demand would drop or it becomes so lucrative, businesses will be lining up to increase supply.

Until some entity steps in to impose public charging regulations - common courtesy must be used (which is becoming a lost art in my opinion) at public charging stations.

If I had an electric vehicle of some sort (hybrid or not) and I needed to plug in, I would leave a note somewhere noticeable on my vehicle. The note would contain a phone number and a message stating "If all charging stations are occupied and you need to charge your vehicle, please text message or call me and I will come out and move my vehicle, but please understand that I need a charge too. Thank you."

It's just a little courtesy. If everyone shared a little bit of etiquette, this idea of charge rage could be eliminated.
