Well, not quite. If you check the users profile he never came back to PriusChat even once after posting this. It was solely to inflame the 'congregation'. I think they took it better than he would have hoped.

If you ask a question that can be answered, I do my best to have a reasonable answer.

And if they really want an answer, I document turbocharging, supercharging, and Otto cycle engine swaps, but if you want a big block Prius, a fiberglass Prius shell over a big block drive train is the right answer

Jimbo - new to all this. I just saw the words turbocharging, supercharging, and Otto cycle engine swaps and wanted to get in touch.
I run a Gen II up and down the motorway all day every day so would love to try and get a bit more HP out of her for the high speed cruising. How realistic are the options of say, 100hp vs the standard 75?

FIrstly, how fast can you afford to go?
Many faster cars exist, why not buy one of them rather than ruin the fuel economy of a perfectly good Prius?

The land speed Prius swapped an Otto cycle Echo engine for the Atkinson cycle Prius engine, almost certainly the cheapest way to go. (almost certainly 25% less fuel economy)

Got Hybrid? (this used to have 4 pages, now just one)

Toyota NZ engine - Wikipedia Otto 109 HP vs Atkinson 76 HP.

An Australian magazine documents a guy (I think the correct slang is hoon) who hand fabricated a turbocharged exhaust/intake system and a hand fabricated supercharger intake system trying to find more horsepower for hillclimbs in his gen 1. One unintended result was his Prius kept the HV Battery charged more than it got faster.
